Would you have/have you had breast augmemtation?
Comments (81)Every life stage has a look that is authentic for each person. It is just silly for a 60yr old grandma to want perky boobs like her teenage grand daughter. Some people really resist progressing to the next stage of life but the body does anyway. I just wish we gain the wisdom to accept our aging bodies. That being said, sometimes people look older or disproportionate in some way that is not suitable to their life. I had a young niece who was slim and athletic but had 38G breasts. Her life had major impact with dealing with those breasts... Or beasts as she would call them. Boy could not see past her boobs neither some of her girls. She could not shop and wear normal clothes. She had to use dressing pads under her breasts to avoid rashes. Breast reduction was medically necessary for her. Another friend decided to do a tummy tuck. She had an emergency c- section with her first child and the cut muscles never recovered. She found it hard to find professional clothes that worked especially as she had a narrower waist and skinny butt. Tummy tuck really changed her life....See MoreBreast cancer awareness
Comments (27)Shannon, thanks for responding again & sharing more about yourself and family. I feel you really understand both sides of the coin; being the one with the diagnosis and being the loved one of that person. You are a very compassionate person who can put yourself in others' shoes. Auntjen...thanks for the hugs and good wishes. I appreciated your support! Texanjana, thanks so very much for your empathy & for your prayers. There has been a new development. Day before yesterday when my sister went to get her chest x-ray for pre-admission/pre-surgery, they found "something" on her lung. Today she had a CT done. Just talked to Peggy and all they determined via the CT was that there is a "mass" on her lung. The details still remain sketchy. They want to do a "fine needle aspiration" & a PET scan next week. She needs to call Monday to schedule those tests as no one was around this afternoon to do that. They have cancelled the surgery for Tuesday. She's hanging in there! I think she's looking forward to having a quiet day at home tomorrow (no tests) to "chill out!" Then we'll all be over to bug her on Sunday! Hopefully by the end of next week we'll have a better idea of exactly what she has & how it should be treated. Again, thanks to each of you for your interest, support and prayers....See MoreBreast cancer reconstruction
Comments (5)New to this site as of today. I had a complete mastectomy Dec 2007. It was MY choice to have both removed. I was never as large (38C) and I never gave reconstruction a second thought. And I have never regretted it. I was 58 at the time and felt I didn't need them. The Dr advised I did'nt need chemo but would be a good "insurance policy" I followed his advise and did chemo. I have talked to lots of ladies since then that went to other hospitals and their Dr didn't feel a need for them to have chemo. But there again I don't have any regrets for taking chemo, as long as I, in my heart feel like it helped and I did everything I could. I know reconstruction will be a long drawn out healing process and you will probably be required to take radiation also. I didn't need radiation being I chose the complete mastectomy. My mother had only one removed and always regretted it. Do what makes you content.....as it is your life. And good luck with whatever you choose....See MoreA Question about Chemo
Comments (21)as the ladies said every doc has h/her own mix..i had 4 doses every 3 weeks...lost my hair (i helped it along and shaved my head) wore scarves, and a hat...a nice warm one, since i went thru it late summer/fall. the "side effect" for me was the steriod i was given ..motor-boated all over the house for the 3 days i took them, then crashed and slept--alot! i recieved the mix thru an iv in my arm and had to sit for 3-4 hours...watched tv or read..btw i drove to and from all my appts alone, because i was able to...never had to take the pill (at home) for getting sick..the mix they gave with fluids before the treatment, worked for me...now a pal i met did, and was sick, but not for long... had 33 radiation treatments...in my case i did have skin peeling (like a bad sunburn) and used special script ointment..what was difficult for me was the darn table you lay on..no padding and those 10 minutes were hard on my back...and holding still... now i'm on fermera an anti-hormone, that both a coz-inlaw and i have found makes you pretty tired..but she's back to work and i manage to get what needs to be done..almost, lol...thanks be for insurance! those little brown pills are expensive! i'm having a little difficulty dealing with the new curly hair-do...but actually it's kind of fun! i never use the "c" word. i'm not trying to hide or make believe it didn't happen, but i also don't want to be defined as that granny with cancer...think one of the best moments i had, was when i was leaving and the nurse said something funny...was loling...had another patient stop me and ask for some of whatever i had..so gave him a big hug...from then on i did/do try to smile laugh and not dwell on what has happen but what i can do ahead... please relate all your treatment, care, and what you're going thru...i was so happy the other ladies did here...who knows? you may help another woman sometime someplace... btw they have some cute bandana-type scarves at wal mart in the purse dept(?) i found one for halloween that was orange with skeletons..so wore it with an orange top for trick or treaqting with the grands...told them it was my halloween costume!...See Morejb1586
