Usually, unless one has an automatic irrigation system, newly seeded lawns are prone to failure as soon as hot weather sets in. A fall seeded lawn has many months of root development prior to hot weather.

Cardamine hirsuta, aka hairy bittercress or shotweed. If your soil is moist, it pulls up quite easily. Otherwise, any broadeaved weed killer for lawns will work, like Weed B Gon.

Of course it is!! Not sure where the Dalmatian came from except both species are commonplace and noxious weeds here. And they are both yellow 😁
