White Wild Flower ID S.E. MI, z5

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I have to post something twice before it's visible. Anyway, does anyone know what this flower is? I saw it growing in the wooded area of Tressle Park in Adrian.

Not a wildflower - a shrub. Viburnum plicatum. So not native, either.

Thank you. That's not shown on the MSU site as growing in this county but not far away so I'm sure you are 100% right.

Definitely not aloe. I'm with you on purslane. I had purslane once that didn't have leaves as pointy as that, but they can be. Don't eat it though, there are over 100 varieties in the Portulacaceae and some (or at least one) is poisenous.

Carol, it most certainly does! UM shows a purplish flower but says a white form has been collected. Since I couldn't get very close, it's possible this flower is purple and not white as it appears to be in the photo. Thank you! This is the first time I've seen comfrey. I expected it to look more like common mullein.

Agree with both, with the first likely to be Liatris aspera. As for the second.......one of the zillions of the late season, yellow flowered Asteraceae :-)

Maybe it escaped from Ken’s place. I would suggest Ken did some gorilla gardening but I know he’s too...uh...frugal for that.

Yes: Viburnum plicatum tomentosum. I've seen several examples of it growing wild out here in my region also, on a river bottom terrace where presumably there was some amelioration of our otherwise often quite dry summer soil conditions (which tend to spare us the mass outbreaks of east Asian origin plants like Japanese honeysuckle and winged euonymus that are seen in the eastern US).

i think that whats blooming in my backyard .. too lazy to walk out here and look at it ...

i was thinking buckthorn but hey.. its 20 feet from the window.. and who cares enough to walk out there ...

well i took a closer look at the plant out the window.. meaning i put my nose on the window.. lol .. god forbid i walk out there ... lol ...

it took me an hour to figure out what it is.. i was stuck on the plant that is a vine and a shrub .. whats that all about ... its the weedy honeysuckle shrub ... thank you mister bird .. or your feathery woman ...

i mention these MI things because parker lives within 5 miles of me.. as the crow flies. .and he actually walks around and looks at plants.. so if i see it blooming ... he might look for it ...

i also noted dames rocket is blooming at the edges of tree lines ...

now go get some pix parker ..

Ken, I do very little walking these days. I'm old and infirm but I love wild plants so I do my best to go out for a walk once a week. I've walked along the lake at Indian Trail in Tecumseh but only once. A friend drives me around and we only have 1 1/2 hours so we don't usually go out of Adrian. Sometimes to Hidden Lake but only rarely. If you're on Facebook, look for The Feral Forest.
