Jim, you should familiarize yourself with the phrase Terms of Use Agreement. Incorporated into that you will find an Acceptable Use Policy and Houzz Discussion Code of conduct. In the Code of conduct you will see the following:

• Refrain from posting threads about individual users.

We have just enough pot-stirrers to mess things up for everybody. It would be nice if only the guilty person's posts were removed instead of an innocent thread. Jim, I hope you will start your thread anew tomorrow and we can carry on.

Murraysmom, Jim blamed a poster for his decision to cease posting his lovely and much appreciated Phrase of the Day thread. That, in and of itself was a violation of the Houzz rules. If he reposts that, it will be deleted again, at the very least.

Jim I just started another thread. It is to say thank you to all who post interesting daily/weekly stuff but it was motivated by your thread loss, and I know my thread will be acceptable to all.

As the song goes: 1 drop of rain doesn't make sun run away. Focus on the positive reactions instead - there are way more of those 🙂

Really? I've been a member for years. As a matter of fact, on my old GW account, I had three times as many posts as you, mainly in the Kitchen and Home Decorating forums, but often here too. You've got some catching up to do.

I don’t think that “GW is on top of this”. I think there are flaggers who bring things they don’t like to GW’s attention.

Yes, my innocent-intended thread asking for the whereabouts of POV was yanked at the same time as Jim’s. Some people started bickering and poof, both were gone. (This thread will probably go, too, given a couple of comments made already).

Suzique, Emily responded on the thread where Jim asked if he was no longer able to post. I thought I had provided a link to that here.

PS I did provide a link and now that thread is gone. To recap, Emily said Houzz pulled the thread and she linked to the Houzz conduct guidelines I posted earlier.

While I am frustrated that the thread was pulled, I certainly appreciate Emily's concise and polite explanation that lined up with the rules of the forum. THAT is how you moderate properly.

Way better than just banning a bunch of people for no reason ( or none that violate any actual rules) and then ignoring direct inquiries about it.

I agree. I too appreciate diplomacy.

I'm not sure why it should be considered "funny". It has always been Houzz policy to ban or cancel the membership of those who routinely violate the Terms of Usage. HT just presented so many opportunities for that to happen.

If anything, they are a little too lax about the policy, allowing a lot of second (and third and fourth) chances before pulling the plug. Personally, I wish they were a little more diligent about monitoring those who consistently violate the house rules.
