What fish is this?
I joined a forum called What's This Fish and asked this question with no response. However, I thought someone here might know or might be able to tell me how to get an ID for this fish.
Photo was taken off Mana Island, Fiji, in February 2018. This is a still from a video that I took, and so I might post that later as well. These fish were in rather shallow water close to the beach and practically swam right under me. They were the largest fish I saw there but still not all that big. My first thought was that they were yellow fin tuna, but I'm not sure that the fins are the correct proportions. They did swim by rather quickly, and I only saw them once.

Comments (4)Keeping a single cory is cruel, and keeping one in a brackish tank is even more so. Cory cats are schooling fish and need at least 6 of a single species to be confident and comfortable. They are also Amazon fish and need a totally different water chemistry than do mollies, that are, as already noted; brackish to salt water fish. I also agree about the tank size. 6 gal. is barely enough to support just one or 2 of the fish you wrote you plan to keep, let alone 5 or 6 of them. You could however, get away with a half dozen fish of a species that stays very small, such as one of the small rasboras. It's really a shame that pet stores sell those tiny tanks, then don't stock the only fish suitable for them, such as some of the really small, "micro" species. For instance: You could keep a school of a dozen Chilli Rasbora in a planted 6 gallon tank and they would be happy and- give their keeper a real treat. Comments (5)First off I would not worry about the 5 White Clouds. And congrats on this great pic for a fish. These are really nice fish and can even reproduce if the conditions are right. Your aerator sounds good by providing a good current for the fish. Got a filter tied to it?? I would get rid of the pink rocks and the plastic plants. What you may want to do is to aquascape your small tank. I think you could make a great little tank of live plants with a piece of driftwood or even some medium sized rocks to give it some interest so that the focus of the tank is not just the fish but the fish swimming in a cool looking environment. Do not add any snails at all. They will eat plants and fish eggs. Comments (2)Phyllostachys aurea is known as FISHPOLE BAMBOO, because of the close nodes at the base of some of the culms which resemble a handle on a fishing pole. Here, it grows to about 28 feet in ideal conditions. There are other bamboos that are used to make fishing poles from, the most common being Pseudosasa amabilis, aka TONKIN CANE or TEA STICK Bamboo. Comments (7)I'm not a big fish eater but I do love my crepes! The texture of the fish is what I would be most concerned with. Choose a fish that is firm and will hold some shape when cooked. The idea of a flaky fish in a crepe doesn't do it for me, think it would be lost in the sauce. You also need to pick a fish with some taste or the crepe will be all about the sauce. I know you asked for fish but would you consider scallops, lobster or shrimp? All make marvelous crepes, especially good is a crepe with a combo of all three with a mornay sauce that has a splash of sherry.... I feel a crepe night coming on!...See More- 5 years ago
Linda, I guess I doubted it because I did not expect to see them, and also they were rather small and did not have an additional dorsal fin that I expected, but they could have that fin flattened, or it could be less pronounced in juveniles.
Pompano is an Atlantic fish, and so it would not be found in the South Pacific.
It does look like this fish, however, and I have bought a lot of yellowfin tuna that was caught in Fiji. In fact, most tuna in southern California seems to come from Fiji. I just never expected to be swimming with a school of tuna, as I associate them with deeper waters. The next fish I saw after them was a small ray, and I got a good video of that.

I think it looks pretty similar, although this is a much larger fish. Adults probably look significantly different from younger fish.

Yes, please send my photo to a diver for another opinion. I was thinking that it might be something else, but I have very limited knowledge of what tuna look like in the wild.
The main difference I see in my photo and the fishing site photo is the tail, and I do think that this could be attributed to my fish being juvenile, but that is just my guess.
This photo from Australia looks more like what I saw.
