I think I have all but #1 as well.

I don't have #2 or #5. I'll have to come back to them.

2 and 5 are on the tough side

WARNING POSSIBLE CLUES IN MT QUESTIONS: is 4 almost ridiculously easy? Is 2 the name of a song or maybe book? (I don’t know it but googled)

    4 is super-easy.

Could #2 be a plant family, maybe? I have no idea at all for #5, but the rest are pretty easy. I might be wrong about #4, my answer for that one is too easy. I seem to have a tendency to overthink these.

Rusty - For #2, maybe. But SPOILER ALERT I’m sticking with a song and thinking about Pat.

At this point I think I’m sticking with all my answers except I‘m not remotely happy with anything I come up with for 1.

My answers are in line with some of the hints like for 2 and 4. However, I am stumped on 1, 3 and 5. I have only been here for a few minutes and am confident about the three I got.

I don't have a solution for #5, and my answer for #2 could be wrong. The others were easy for me, but I had to look at #1 twice to get it right.

Hints for 1 and 5, please.

HINT for lily on number 5: rise is in the same place as tide was in a recent puzzle.

    can’t help you with 1.

Thanks to foodonastump's hint for #5, I think I got it. Still don't have anything for #2.

#5 makes me think of the TV show The Jeffersons...

    Thanks, Food.

I did get #5 without clues, once I stopped trying to change "me nt" to "me[a]nt".

    So you got #1, Rusty?

    Hint please?

Hmmmmm, hint for #5 easier said than done, if what I am thinking is right.

    Possibly outdated terminology.

Can be useful tool in some situations, often a kids toy.

    Does that help any?

    Rusty

Ah!!!! Well I can’t say I was anywhere close!

    Got it! Thanks 🙂

Kind of uncertain about #4. I thought I knew it but now I don't think so...

Is there a hint for #1? It’s the only one I can’t seem to figure out.

It’s not quite clear (or wasn’t to me at first) but Rusty’s post was a hint for 1: “ Can be useful tool in some situations, often a kids toy.”

Thanks for clarifying that. I thought the hint was for #5 and I was very confused.

I have #1 and the hint about kids toy makes sense.

Number two is the one I'm unsure of. Is one of the words is a synonym for change or movement? But maybe the reason I think it's what I think it is is the same reason I'm still awake at 3:15 AM. :)

Unless I'm wrong on number one, it can be a hobby for some. A useful tool for others. Think truckers, service people, police, emergency, delivery people, etc.

    Thanks, Richard! Finally got #1!

As for #2, so many options. And #5, the only thing I can think of, I have to work too hard to make it work, so it’s obviously wrong. My brain is such a fog this week, even the hints aren’t helping, except for Richard’s.

Is anyone confident in their answer for #2? I don’t find Rusty’s idea any more or less convincing than mine, but I’m not convinced of either.

#2, DH and I were talking about an old Ken Howard series, I wonder . . .

Interesting but I’d have to think the word “night” needs to be in there.

Richard, we're thinking along the same limes for #1, your clues are much better than mine was.

FOAS, my comment for #2 was a question, it is still a question in my mind. No confidence at all that it could be right, but it does sort of make sense. To me, anyway.

As for #5, I give up. I can come up with some partial answers, but nothing that seems right.

So I await, (not so) patiently, for the solution.

Rusty, you're probably going to kick yourself once you see #5, as I did when I finally got it after foodonastump's hint. Here's a bigger hint: think dwelling.

LOL lettersatoz, I almost always do kick myself when I see the answers of those I can't get. It's always so doggoned obvious when you know the answer!

Now you've opened a whole new line of thought, and my poor ol' brain is already worn out. . . . . .

People here in my office have three different guesses for #2.

ANSWERS (If you want to keep guessing, scroll on by)

    1. Two Way Radio
    2. Night Shift
    3. Slap in the Face
    4. Bi-Weekly
    5. Hi Rise Apartments
    6. Boxing Ring

Night shift? Well the good news is I’m not kicking myself for not having gotten it. It’s a stretch IMO. I was going with Pay Benatar’s “Shadows of the Night.” “Darkened Night” had also crossed my mind.

Shadows of the night is what immediately came to me as well. I'm stickin' with it. ; )

    last modified: 5 years ago

I thought 2 was nightshade. I got the rest, though.

nightshade was my answer as well

I worked night shift which probably helped me guess "Night shift" for two. People with greener thumbs... "Nightshade"?

Nightshade was my answer too. And I'll stick with it...lol. I bragged about 100% on the last one. This one did me in. I did not get 1 and5

    I had 'Nightshade' for #2, also. Makes sense to me . . . ..

I also just realized I posted the wrong # with my hint above. It was intended for #1, not #5. Sorry about that.

As for #5, I gave up on that one last night. I might have gotten something with the 'dwelling' hint earlier today, but I just refused to think about it anymore. Did get the rest of them right, though, so there is that. . . . .

Anxiously waiting for Sunday's brain game!

    Rusty

    I still don't get number 5 answer.

I thought #2 was 'night light', since it looked to me like the black letters were floating.

And 'rise' is high and 'ments' are apart, lily 🙂

    last modified: 5 years ago

    @lily316

The "Rise" is high so "High Rise".

The "ME" and the "NT" in "MENT" are separated or "Apart" from each other so "Apart MENT" or "Apartment".

And since there's two of them, "Apartments".

Yeah, I was trying space, separated, broken, etc. before I thought of "apart". :)

I was thinking "white shadow" but of course that had nothing to do with"night" except that it rhymed lol.

I'm not sure I'd have gotten #5 for a long time.

Thanks, these really fired up the old brain cylinders!

Duh! Sometimes my brain doesn't work. Now I see number 5. Thanks.

Carol I had night light at one point, too, thinking it looked kind of like a neon light.

I had night light as well. Definitely didn't get nightshift. But did get the rest thanks to a hint for #5.

It was the 'high' rise that clued me in 😃

"Anxiously waiting for Sunday's brain game!",

"Thanks, these really fired up the old brain cylinders!"

I'm SO glad you like these puzzles! Thanks so much everyone, for taking part in them religiously.

Well, I never did get #1, SMH! And I too thought #2 was nightshade. These are still fun, and a good workout for the brain. Nailed the rest though!

These are my favorites - thanks again, Jasdip 🙂
