My one big concern is the Salt system. the builder is using Jandy equipment and using Fusion salt system. I can upgrade to AquaPure, but I am not sure if it is worth it, or Fusion system will work -the mineral cartridge. I have seen where someone suggested to rig it so as to avoid using mineral buts still use salt for chlorination. any suggestion would be helpful. Pool size and shape model: 700 sq. Steel walls would be my choice polymer walls tend to warp and don't give you those straight lines on the pool. I change about 40 liners in pools per season and the steel walls very seldom show any type of corrosion and some of these pools are 20yrs plus old. Go with the salt system the UV will cause staining down the road...If I had to pick between sand or a cartridge filter I would go with sand...Do some research on DE fiters to me they are the best of both worlds and that is what I have on my personnel pool and as a builder I could have any filter I want... also if it were me I would look at Pentair equipment. For the heater if you not planning on swimming in Dec look at a heat pump rather than gas....250,000 BTU should be fine other than that... Rusty

where are you located and what are your pool dimensions? is that an "out the door" price? describe what is a 40 foot wall and about how much is that? at 800 sq. ft. you are twice my size pool so the price you are getting seems good. you did not mention your pool finish. standard plaster? in going through this process i learned that you have to educate yourself (a little) to pool/spa plumbing and hydraulics. this is important because pool builders will not be worried about your operating costs after they have built your pool. also, once the pipes are buried you have to live with what they gave you. there are plenty of threads on this forum about this. from what i have read if you are doing a pool/spa combo you may be better off with a dedicated spa pump. get as many jets as you want just remember the more jets you get the more pump you need. good luck!

hello, we have decided to install a fiberglass pool. met with 3 builders and one stands out (nova pools in glen burnie md). we do have a budget and are wondering if it would be a good idea to purchase our own automatic pool cleaning system. i was quoted 1450 for auto pool cleaner but have seen them in the 800-1000 range if purchased separately. also it seems less expensive to purchase our own cover. what kind of cover do you recommend? another concern is that the builder we want to use installs san juan pools. we really want to install a trilogy, would it be appropriate to ask him to install another brand? thanks for your thoughts as we are newbies!! also, what size pump would you recommend for 25x 28 fiberglass, we do want salt, is a spa worth the extra cost? any other ideas or advice for us to consider is most appreciated. thank you
