Looking for ideas for countertop / backsplash
Comments (35)Chicoryflower, Annie1971, Roguevalley, KitchenKelly, Kmcg85, Walkin_YesIndeed, Mom24boys, Straitlover, and Brutuses: You could never know how helpful youÂve all been! I went to a kitchen store today and brought home some samples of the ones youÂve suggested and also a few others. I sure wish I had your designer eyes -- thank you for lending them to me. Wow, what a difference it made to pull myself away from all the black! IÂve narrowed it down to either Jamocha Granite or Perlato Granite, leaning heavily towards the Jamocha Granite, which surprises me. They look a lot alike here, but the Jamocha Granite has a warm tone, while the Perlato Granite is cooler. The colors in the Jamocha Granite seem to make the cupboards coordinate with the black appliances, pulling it all together -- exactly the way you said it would. I still do wish I could see a Photoshopped version, but just looking at the samples I brought home has made a huge difference. (YouÂd think one of the major countertop companies would set up a website where people could upload photos and "paint" different samples on the pictures.) Anyway, I just want to post my heartfelt "thank you" for all your help. What a warm group of people yÂall are!...See MoreWhite kitchen - backsplash ideas?
Comments (3)I like the second option as it will give you more mileage. The first one while unique I think over time you will tire of and you are set to one style and one look as opposed to the more neutral 2nd choice. Interesting choices. Hoping to see the end product....See MoreBacksplash and countertop ideas please!
Comments (4)I agree with the suggestion to keep things light. However, as someone who loves color (including the blue you're considering), keep in mind that if you can modify your lighting, you should do that first and then decide whether you still want a darker backsplash. Any color or shade will look different under different lighting. If at all possible, install undercabinet lights and maybe cans spaced around the perimeter to replace the existing ceiling fixture. Then it will be easier to tell whether the improved lighting can keep the space from becoming too dark if you do a blue backsplash tile....See MoreKitchen Backsplash Ideas for White Spring Granite
Comments (7)I am also looking for backsplash for White Springs granite. While I know that the very nature of natural stone is that it varies, it is hard for me to believe this is White Springs unless the picture is bad. I thought it was typical for that granite to have less black and hints of burgundy. In mine, the mica has a nice taupe color and I plan to go that direction. I agree that it is a showpiece granite, and that you therefore want to go super simple with the backsplash. My leading candidate at the moment is Daltile Retrospace in Sycamore Tan which is very taupe. My slab is much more colorful than yours appears here. Elemental Tan is more brown and matches my slab well, but we are doing all wood cabinets, and I thought the contrast with the wood was too low. But you might like it because it’s a warm tan but still simple and neutral, especially if the backsplash will be against the white cabinets and you are already playing with brown in the middle with the island stain. The granite in my experience could handle 2 shades of brown if not right next to each other. But I doubt it would work with the paint colors you mentioned. Though to be honest, I don’t know how warm those whites and grays are. Also not sure how warm or colorful you want to go. If you like Sycamore Tan, I would check your gray to be sure. If you like Elemental Tan, maybe look at SW Bagel or something like it. Artisan Tan is a darker, leans burgundy one, but definitely a more dramatic look....See MoreLala David
