I would agree with the suggestions to live in the space for a little while. You might decide on more extensive changes (layout, maybe even walls, etc) or you might decide you like the layout as it is. I may be in the minority, but those cabinets look really pretty to me. But I like wood cabinetry. In the meantime I would consider changing out the white knobs to metal (brushed nickel or chrome maybe?) to add a little inexpensive shine. Depending on what is next to the kitchen on the opposite side of the stove, it might make sense to remove some upper cabinetry. Or even the cabinetry over the range if you put in a different type of range hood. I think the kitchen could be stunning with new counters and appliances and floor with the cabinets just as they are. But if you have your heart set on a white kitchen, maybe that won't work for you.

Do not throw good money after bad. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, come up with a viable plan. Because, believe me, if you start down this rabbit hole, one thing will lead to another to another to another.... New countertop means new sink means new faucet means etc. etc. etc. You need to plan, plan, and plan some more. Then research, research and research some more. As someone suggested, look at traffic patterns, how you use your kitchen and what works and what does not. Then decide how much you can spend. Know that a kitchen can very easily cost 30K and more. Do not paint your cabinets unless you send them out which will cost as much as new. You can paint your cabinets, but it will take a very long painstaking time to do. I don't agree with replacing the counter (unless there is a problem/damage) as opposed to the floor. LVT, and even "old-fashioned" sheet vinyl or vinyl composition tile, are durable and a good choice. You want to look for brands that are scratch and dent resistant as much as possible. It looks like the current floor might be vinyl composition tile, which comes in several colors. I wouldn't pick a wood look tile since adjacent floors are natural wood - the difference would be obvious. It also looks like there was a significant water leak from the dishwasher or sink plumbing - make sure that has been repaired and that there is no rot lurking beneath the cabinets or flooring. Choose paint after you've chosen the floor - but those vintage cabinets tend to look very nice when painted in a color like navy, mushroom, sage - be guided by what you like!

I would consider removing the heavy upper cabinets and the soffit above your peninsula. They totally close off the kitchen from the dining area. You might be able to salvage a portion of them to finish off the run in the kitchen. Your natural wood flooring lends a golden tone to your room. I would not paint this room gray. In much of the US, gray is now passé. Rather, creams, greens, etc. might be a better look for your walls, etc.
