I was thinking I’d like to eventually redo the shower tile and bring it down the wall like these

I think that if you‘re thinking about changing the tile around the shower and bringing it into the room, I probably wouldn’t spent the money right now to put white hexagons on the floor. If you want to change the floor right now, maybe you should do a temporary fix right now (using pop floor decals/painting the tile) OR simply buy some cool rugs/towels until you’re ready to tear out the shower tile.

I almost suggested that you pick out a floor tile now that will look nice with changing the tub/shower surround tile - BUT - there are SO MANY beautiful tiles that are introduced over a fairly short time that, if I were you, I’d worry about changing my mind about what tile I want to use when redoing the tub/shower.

What does the current floor look like?

I don't think you can do wrong with a small hex floor in a bathroom - there's a reason it's been used for decades. All of that grout means that less graceful folks like myself are less likely to slip on wet floors! Consult with an experienced tile installer, but there are grouts you can use with white tiles that are less prone to staining (epoxy grout) - I will never make the mistake ever again of believing regular grout + sealer would stay white on a mosaic floor.

I can’t image that i would want to do anything too bold in the future. I really prefer simple and classic. Would gray grout look ok? Or would I hate that later? We used warm gray in our master

I don’t think they do epoxy, but they did have me use a grout that had an additive to help with staining. Its not bad, but you can already tell where we walk in there and that tile has only been down since January.
