Just wanted to share my new african violet shelves!
Hello all! I just had to share this. My husband helped me set it up, and then he built a cute little fence to keep our toddler out. Lol. So here's my african violet growing spot! I've been growing them in windows with natural light for 8 years... So this is a new level for me.. And SO MUCH SPACE compared to what i was used to. ;)

Comments (50)Deb, my box was picked up, not delivered.. on the 15th, I was home on the 14th so it should of been delivered right to our home. (unless we had a sub carrier and he was just to lazy to deliver it...lol. ) This is the first time that has ever happened,plus our postal carrier knows if someone isnt home to leave it at my sons house right next doo. So, I am not sure why it is saying it was delivered on the 14. I will get it back in the mail ASAP, like I always do, but I cant see it sitting over the weekend! Comments (9)One of my all time favorites. I had a 3' killed in 1998's 28f cold. years later I bought a second that didn't seem to have the good color of the original..and I grew it in sun. To make a long story short...'Rubra' outdoors turns near black in bright shade..too much sun fades it and..even sunburns the trunk. I now have a near 4' double trunker with many branches,leafs, and nice dark color. And its survived 2007 and this Januarys cold with only light damage it grew out of. They seem indestructible as pot plants...can do well with much water too. Toss them some fertilizer in summer...just great plants....See MoreWhat do you think of my new and first African Violet?

You got yourself a really healthy shiny young plant - it will be doing really well for you for some time - and you have time to research the needs of it - so it will be with you and blooming for as long as you want. And another spot close to a window. I also have a floor lamp on these to give more light. I would call this my overflow spot... And my cat doesn't get up here so this is where i put the plants she likes to eat. Lol.
And my last plant spot at my kitchen sink. Another overflow because it really doesn't get enough light here either! It's no wonder i struggle to raise Succulents.... I just have a hard time finding a good spot for them.

I'm like you and have plants everywhere. One of my best scores on craigslist was a stack of thick glass shelves that a woman wanted to get rid of. She told me she had used them to display dolls. I took them all and split them with my sisters and one of my BILs used some to build me this great 3-shelf plant stand:
