Need help with counter-top and backsplash selection
Comments (1)I think white would be a nice contrast. I've attached a link to a GW member's (kellienoelle) kitchen that used Delicatus granite & a classic white backsplash. Comments (4)Thanks for the feedback to let me know this should not be acceptable. Before buying, I searched online to find out what to expect but didn't find much (mostly advertising.) We bought the countertops through Lowes, but they contracted out the fabricating. I called Lowes and talked to them but haven't heard back. Does anyone else have experience with Lowes and what they do when there is a problem? When a fabricator messes up like that, what usually happens? The counters have already been installed. Should they have to replace it? What a mess if they have to take them off again....See Moreinconsistent counter top thickness? what’s acceptable?
Comments (8)I am a fabricator. slabs are officially specified as "3CM". In practice slabs vary from just over an inch to 1-1/4" or more. If I get slabs that are less than 1-1/8" in thickness I reject them. The variations you are mentioning are typical and not indicative of inferior quality. That said, a good fabricator would have at least suggested you remove a piece of splash from the existing and use it for color matching. You might still have the color variation but at least it wouldn't have been a surprise. A good fabricator (or contractor) strives for no surprises....See Moreneed help - kitchen counter top
Comments (7)you've just about described my new kitchen (the island looks a little blue here, but it's a dark charcoal called Wrought Iron) the island is Calacatta and the perimeter is Eternal Serena quartz (they also have a charcoal color option that almost looks like soapstone, but I thought it would be too dark for mine) I'm not completely finished w/the tiling in my kitchen ) slab of the Serena Look up Silestone Eternal Charcoal and see if you like the darker. btw, here's one of the porcelain slabs from my tile place that I was considering. looked so real....See More- 3 years ago
