Do you remember the Blueberry Hill Cookbook et al?

I loved that book as well as others by Elsie Masterton, like Nothing Whatever To Do and The Blueberry Hill Menu Cookbook. In 1966, when Elsie was 52 and her husband, John, was 63, they died within three months of each other, both of colon cancer. They left three daughters. Laurey, the youngest, was only 12.

Laurey battled three different cancers in her lifetime. The third, colon cancer, was the last. She was in her late 50s when she died in 2014.

As many of you know, I've been volunteering for FindAGrave for a long time. I am always careful to link children to their parents on the site. Not all volunteers do this, but it's important to me. Perhaps because of my years of familiarity with FindAGrave, the links feel like real connections to me. I like families to be together. Anyway, when I came upon the Mastertons' memorials and realized Laurey wasn't linked to them, I suggested an edit to the manager of her Laurey's memorial. The edit will have to be approved in order for it to happen, but I hope it will.

For those who are interested, here are Elsie and John's memorials:

And to read more about Laurey, who became a successful chef in Asheville, NC, her sister Heather honored her with a beautiful website:
