Outside Porch Ceiling Fans Bad Idea?
Comments (17)rwiegand - I found your question ‘Why resurrect it?’ Well - for the simple reason that high winds still exist, as well as the need for outdoor ceiling fans. The discussion is as valid as it was 8 years ago. Like Amy, we have outdoor Minka Aire, (a Slipstream ) and they have held up well for 5 years. The 65 inch version moves a lot of air. Our central Texas house is up on a ridge, and has a nice breeze about 80% of the time, but during summer they’ve been quite useful as a relief to the heat, as well as helping keep mosquitos off....See Morepool table lighting and ceiling fan ideas needed - pics
Comments (2)If you use the light you are showing, is there any other light in the room? The solid shades will concentrate all the light on the table and no light in the room itself. You might look for 1 with glass shades instead, or add recessed, maybe 4 in the 4 corners. Look at the Diane single oscillating ceiling fan and the Melody wall fan from Atlas Fans. Both are at available from www.yourlightsite.com. just search under Atlas fans. The Diane can be mounted on the ceiling in a corner out of the way or the Melody can be mounted on the wall. Either one will do a good job in the room. Look at the Billiard lights on that site under Hi-Lite. Very similar to what you are showing but with glass shades....See MoreAll ideas welcomed...
Comments (21)I would definitely agree with talking to a realtor. Where we are the difference between the op’s kitchens and the one Kristin posted would absolutely make a difference in the sale of the home. The houses here that have original 60’s kitchens go for less and/or sit in the market because most people don’t want to have to redo a kitchen and if they are going to they want a really good price for the house. Other people have said in their areas people plan to redo the kitchen when they buy no matter what. A realtor can give you good advice on what buyers in your market want. Our realtor told us that allowances don’t work. People make an impression based on what they see and have a hard time getting past that, and the sellers and buyers invarably think the cost of the upgrade or fix is different (sellers less and buyers more)....See MoreRecessed lights in a small bedroom with a Ceiling Fan - Bad Idea?
Comments (7)How Many Recessed Lights? Recessed Lighting Calculator I don't think recessed lights are needed in a bedroom. My bedroom has a dresser that extends most of the length of one wall. Two lights on it (actually, they're the first-generation IKEA Symfonisk speaker lamps) with 600 lumen bulbs are plenty to light the room. You could reduce the chance of strobing from recessed lights by using deep baffle lights (example) and even further by using dark reflectors You might consider tape lights attached to the topside or underside of the wall shelf. Put them in a channel to improve their appearance if they'll be visible. I'd add a desk light. "It's super annoying to have to walk across a dark room to turn on the current floor lamp."
