Comments (4)Run the second F to the first F and the second T to the first T. If the transformer will not sound both chimes at the volume you expect, replace the transformer. The NEMA code is not nearly as not as restrictive in may ways as the NEC since it covers equipment wiring. The wiring used also has a higher temperature insulation than typical permanent wiring in a structure. Between the well known loads present (lights and blower)using higher temperature insulation allows for a smaller enclosure and smaller conductors. It is not designed to be worked on very much, so access and convenience take a back seat to saving even a small amount of $$ ($1 saved over 20,000 units is significant)....See MoreDoorbell Push Button wire Broke!
Comments (5)Door bells are low voltage (~16v DC) so you probably don't have to worry about a fire. If you want to look for the transformer it should look something like this: Could be anywhere but most likely in the basement or in the garage. You can just disconnect the two wires from the screw terminals and the line to the door bell will be dead. If you don't feel like running new wires, get one of those wireless chimes....See Moredoorbell transformer wiring
Comments (4)Door bell transformers usually look like this: Often you'll find them stuck to the side of the circuit breaker panel thought they could be anywhere. It's possible that the transformer was removed (or perhaps was never there)....See Morepookieman
