Question for Al mix for a lemon tree
Comments (8)I found I can get all the ingredients on ebay individually. Then I found a place that will mix stuff for you, and they don't have the granite however, but the turface and fir bark they have. Now, I wonder what would be most ideal for a lemon tree, now I can see this huge menu of choices. I would like it if they would screen it for me, as long as I am spending big bucks to have someone else mix it for me. I bet I could have saved my tropical Cristo Rey Rhododendron if I had potted it up the winter we got snow in San Francisco. But, I was afraid to pot it up, since it did so poorly in traditional potting soils. It needed good drainage. Not exactly the same as the gritty mix but one of the closest (and better quality) commercial potting mixes available. Comments (9)Lime will raise the pH; it is applied to acid soils to do that; gypsum will improve soil structure, especially for clay soils; and improve water uptake, but will not affect the pH. So, I guess it depends on what you are starting with; and what you want to end with... I don't know nuttin about 511 mix; so none of this might be helpful. Comments (18)no worries on the JM technique. on my larger pots (20Gal) i put 8 holes versus 4. It's been raining here in Ma all week also. which is fine with me since i haven't had to water my trees yet. once the rain finally decides to stop i would then start the liquid feed every other week....See More- 3 years ago
