Flat front of house with no curb appeal
My home is a 1967 ranch/rambler style home that the previous owners made look even longer by adding a breezeway next to the garage.
The front door doesn’t even look defined and the sliding door in the front is to a mud room which will not be the main point of entry for visitors.
I was thinking a small gable (where yellow is marked around door) as well as a new front door would help but I would like to hear others ideas. Especially when it comes to landscaping and what I could plant close to the house.

Anyways... ideally speaking I’d want to see a long front porch.
Windows should be enlarged. And maybe eventually replacing and raising the sliding door with French doors from the porch. And if not regular entry doors. Lighting and hardscape are also important.
I’d keep landscaping simple.

Comments (8)You have an interesting house. Some time ago another person posted their mansard roof house. They ended up painting the second floor windows that same color as the roof. It made a big difference. I think you should paint the windows are dark gray. Paint the area around the first floor windows the same color as the garage. Paint the front door an interesting color. Comments (13)The only construction change I would make is to box in the stone posts. To my eye they look very odd - just random shapes of stone glued onto the posts. Larger light between the garage doors. Good ideas above. I would just paint the garage doors and trim, not add fancy windows to them. 2 years agoPer your request, updated version with smaller gable. I think if going with the smaller version, it might look better if only 2 siding styles are used. I just use "Paint" which is pre-loaded on any comptuer I have ever purchased
