Best automatic hose reel?
Comments (39)SO happy to find this thread- I am lugging 150 feet of hose around my back yard and am so tired of it. I have to wrap it around my body and lean into it like I am a draft animal! To add insult to injury my husband has a mental block about winding it up properly so that it doesn't knot up when I am dragging it back out- I swear most of the cursing from my back yard is over his winding up the hose. I am currently using old Lifetime guaranteed hoses that the company has now replaced three times for me- I really got my money's worth, lol. Which leads me to ask about the DAP company and how reliable we think their lifetime guarantee on the Pro series is? I know no one can make my mind up for me, but a total of $90 (hose is $70 plus two 9.95 shipping charges) is a lot of money for me even if I am getting two 75 footers for that price. Plus I need a set for the front yard! Just want to be sure I am not making a mistake and I don't live near enough anywhere to go have a feel for myself....See Moreself winding hose reel - opinions
Comments (1)Max, I don't think this is going to help a lot, but I remember reading a lot of very positive reviews on the ReelSmart somewhere on this site last year. About 2 weeks ago, I bought two of their modfel RS100061 (fewer bells and whistles and a LOT less pricey than the model usually stocked by HD), but haven't as yet mounted them. For what it's worth, I have tried relentlessly to contact the manufacturer with regard to a couple of questions that need to be answered before I mount these units, and am finding that apparently Hydo Industries is not in the least bit interested in being helpful. They have not responded to my emails, and the customer service phone number leads to a recorded message telling me I can leave a message---to which there is no response. Since I have already invested in these hose reels, I can only hope they are more user-friendly than their manufacturer....See Moreget rid of the hose reels .... simple irrigation
Comments (15)For those in the northern states, you will want to blow out the piping in fall, so it does not freeze and damage the setup. Any buried pipe needs to be very deep, for year-round water use, so it is lower than the frost depth up here in the cold areas. Should then have a self-draining hydrant, instead of a faucet, so it doensn't freeze above the ground either. For a summer help, the system ken shows would work and be helpful. Just remember that come fall, all the water needs to be removed for pipes. ALL the faucets should have back-flow prevention valves on them. They prevent any siphoning of water, fertlizer, puddles, from being sucked back into the water system, city or well, to contaminate the water supply. VERY IMPORTANT to have the back-flow prevention valves on every faucet outside, keep your water supply protected. Such valves are available at Home Depot type stores in plastic or brass. Plastic are much less expensive, but may need replacing sooner. Still should get a couple years or more out of them....See MoreAir compressor hose reel
Comments (1)I just purchased a retractable hose reel from Northern Tool. It hangs from the ceiling with 50 ft of hose ($200). Its awesome. If you go that route...dont skimp on the quality. Get either a Coxreel or Reelcraft...no Chinese junk for me....See Moretsugajunkie z5 SE WI ♱
