Can you clarify what you mean by a style that screams "early 2010s"? It is difficult without pictures of your space or at least pictures of the products in your space to come up with a fixture that will be a good fit. I went to a local lighting store with a plethora of catalogs and asked the sales person to help. He pulled out numerous catalogs with lighting that might fit my needs (halogen or xenon or led, brushed nickel/stainless, contemporary). I picked several that I liked and had my significant other choose the one(s) he liked best and decided from there. I chose this Access Lighting light for two bathroom remodels (one in 4 light size one in 3 light size). I like the light mounted with the lights up rather than down. Many fixtures can go either way. Access Lighting has numerous vanity lighting options. I also really liked Minka Lavery / George Kovacs lighting. Here are a few that I liked, though they might be too contemporary as well.

I have 2 windows (with faux wood blinds covering them thank you) at right angles above the tub in the master bath, so no wall art there. However, I do have a prominent piece of wall separating 2 mirrors over our vanities.........This wall is crying for something but I haven't found it. The other day, I saw some really pretty decorative wall clocks and have been thinking about that. For some reason I wasn't sure if it would be odd to have a pretty wall clock hanging there, although honestly it kind of makes sense. What do you think? The ones I saw (at Ross or TJMaxx) were round and had nice detailed frames. Generally speaking, vanity lights are smaller than the vanity (otherwise the vanity seems undersized or the lighting seems oversized). For specific size, a rule of thumb is that the light fixture should be no wider that 75% of the mirror width, though I sometimes use 1/2 or 2/3. So for a 27" mirror anything that is 14-20", so I'd probably fo with the 2-light fixture. The best way to figure out what you'll like is to tape off the width of the fixture above the mirror with painters tape and see which fits better. Good luck!

I feel that the first option is a better choice for your needs, especially if you're afraid that the asymmetry of the second option might bother you. You don't want that to happen for years to come! Whereas the first option does indeed require a little more work up front, but does lead to more comfort after the installation.
