What to do with this entryway?
I'm really struggling with what to do with this space, particularly below the accent lights. The front door leads directly into an open living-dining-kitchen space (only part of the living room is visible). The sofa is temporary but I'm probably going to place a different one in the same place plus a few chairs around. I'd really like to have a console below the lights (to drop off keys and stuff) but I don't think I'd like one as long as the wooden panel; I feel like it would take up too much space and visual. Maybe a small one and something else on either side? (a plant, a rack?) Also, I don't think it would make sense to place a mirror below them, maybe artwork? Pictures?

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoPlease provide a photo showing the wall that faces the sofa so we can see if you can push the sofa forward enough for a sofa table behind it, which could be very attractive.
Otherwise, layout like this would work well--console table against wall with a mirror or art work and a great runner to create a pathway into your home. I love how the colored door also defines and brightens the space, which isn't really a foyer but now functions like one.

Comments (12)It looks like your entry might be right next to your dining room? I'm thinking the table with the pic over it is in the dining room? If so, the proximity makes it a little awkward to treat the 2 areas separately. I can see the need for something over the bench, but then you'll have a bunch of things all lined up on the wall (counting the furniture and what will hang on the wall). Maybe think about putting the picture over the bench and using something like a taller piece of furniture where the table is (like a small china cabinet, etc). Might not be in your budget right now (I see the baby/little kid stuff in your pics), but maybe on down the line? Comments (4)Well, you have to ask yourself, "How much do you love that concrete?" As suggested, the low cost option would be to stain it. A higher cost choice, but more "lovely" in the long run, would be to get rid of the concrete and extend your existing, or complimentary pavers. Comments (13)If you're going for modern, an easy trick is to keep it minimal and focused on function. I don't see art or a mirror fitting that space properly without taking away from the architecture of the home in such a tight space. A rectangular shape will make the arch at the top more pronounced. I would consider finding some cool hooks if you could use the entryway storage or 3-d art that isn't rectangular. Or reconsider adding drywall. 3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoI would put 2 matching console tables there and hang a series of 2 to 4 inexpensive poster prints over them to give a sense of progression and entrance. Don’t know your tastes, but I would go for either of these type of series, or a series of vintage travel prints or black and white photos of famous cities, or landscape themes
