My first question is What is your favorite color? You have excellent neutrals that could work with any color. If you love the cool gray green of Farrow and Ball's french gray I say go for that color. That is a color that can compliment many different colors from the gold warm tan drapes to a fire hot red chair or a deep green alligator. Go with what you like and you will be amazed that it works. If you think the Farrow and Ball French Gray is a little too green based you might consider another FB paint called Light also by FB French Gray FB Light by Farrow and Ball I like mixing cool and warm in different venues for drama. Obviously not all the colors but keeping it simple to two basic hues and working with them is ideal. You have one small wall behind your china cabinet that you could paint in a gold tan to match the drapes but the rest of the walls the Blue gray Farrow and ball you are thinking of would be perfect. Not sure where this is located, but clearly there are regional influences that should be considered in designing the interior as well as the climactic impact on the exterior. I think on the outside, I'd just make a durable walkway to the porch and then add seating there. Given how fragile arid plants can be, I wouldn't do anything to encourage guests to spend time in the yard at all...unless you make a specific area, say a stoned circle with chairs. But to start out as a b&b, I'd probably put my money elsewhere. On the interior, esp for the public spaces, I'd probably do a neutral backdrop and let the accent colors come from the furnishings and accessories. If I wanted to warm up the space in the bedroom area, I'd think about doing maybe an accent wall in a saturated color to stand up to all the wood.

Don't match, just choose colors/style that is harmonious with the two rooms and what is in them.

My favorite is Mid-Century Modern as well! But not what the bf wants. When I think of western, farmhouse, cabin, rustic comes to mind. His dad was a professional bull rider and he wants pictures of cows/cowboys, outdoors. But he doesn't want Native American print (I had to coerce him in getting the rug). Everything could be reclaimed barn wood if he had it his way, I just want more color and textures to break it all up. I'm even down for an eclectic mix of items as long as it blends.....but is that even possible?
