Yes, bragging on my 24 years old grandson. Him on left and looks just like his dad.

Enjoying fun time with his friend. They will be deployed to Africa in the fall. That's all I know.

I am really hoping that the burgundy celosia reseeded. I didn't find ANY seeds on it!! I thought it was supposed to be so generous? And after last summer's show....I gotta have this in my garden. Thank goodness there are still a few seeds in the trade packet I got last year! Vera, the zinnias DO look pink in these pix. I didn't realize that till now. They are actually lavender. Does it matter? Hope not...you are getting seeds (if I figured out how to harvest them. BLUSH!!) The agastache was so well behaved....unlike most of my ws plants. I had a couple of patches of it and it stood up to wind and rain and all the rest. Not the most amazing of plants...a tiny bit boring, actually. But I'm delighted with anything that blooms and doesn't succumb to insects or disease!

I learned a great deal from my MIL and one of the biggest lessons I learned from her canning was to be willing to change. I still remember when the instructions for added acid in tomatoes was introduced. She was the one who told me. Your mother is a wise woman and what a compliment to you that she sets so much store on your knowledge. To be showing this kind of personal initiative and persistence at such a young age is quite impressive. There are people in the world who are proactive to make things happen and to put themselves where they want to be in their lives, others who only react to situations (whether intended or unintended) they find themselves in and often with limited alternatives to choose from. He's obviously of the first type, congrats to him and to all concerned.

He may or may not know yet but Africa covers a whole continent. It is similar to stating he is going to be stationed in North America. Probably using that so family will not worry until time is closer.

Glenda, I just had my first grandchild in July. I love that little baby so much. I hope to hang around to see him become a handsome young man one day too!

IME, 24 is pretty grown up for a gal. Our DS was still coasting until 28. Thank goodness for his choice of marriage to someone willing to do the 'finishing'. (Tomorrow he'll be 50.) An adventure not to be missed.
