Not knowing the sq. footage of your space, it's hard to push you in that direction... my tile is just those three walls (can't see the the third) - as the sink is set into that space and stands alone. I think all said and done it was $400 for tile and labor - but the guy just came in to do this job. You'll be bidding out for more tile than just this.... so labor wise, it probably won't add much to your overall labor cost. I purchased at a local tile store - but was just in Lowes last night and they have some really pretty glass accents (like the one I used) -- if that's your thing. It just added a little extra interest. The wall where my towel holder is (to the left of the sink) was just full of water drip stains. You can't get them out. It was either re-paint every couple years or tile. As for your sink choice - I truly believe it comes down to the look you want to achieve. The all white cabinet, with white subway tiles and accent tiles would look pretty awesome. I can't imagine that the fiberboard is any less durable than the pine....

You just have to saw off the tab from the leg connecting piece, since the shallow cabinets don't have the little indentation on the bottom. Ikea does sell what they call shallow base cabinets, which are just the wall cabinet + a set of legs. If you go to ikeahacker.com or ikeafans.com you can see many examples of how people have done this. Some have also used the mounting rail instead of legs for a floating effect.

If I'm understanding your set up right, do you think maybe it might be worth having 1 30" drawer unit instead of 2x15"? I mostly just worry that you'll find beyond cutlery, 15" isn't a good size for everything else that you might want to store (plus as we've found out with our tiny cutlery drawer, some of the really nice cutlery inserts don't fit that small of a drawer *sad trombone*) I think the advice above is good: lay out everything you have and decide what space it needs. Leaning towards using a 20" tall by 36" wide wall cabinet under my apron sink like others have done. In doing this, i want to install a Maximera drawer instead of just have doors and and a shelf. However, our Grimslove drawer fronts only come in 5, 10 and 15in heights for the required 36" width. So instead of going with a stationary 5" tall an movable 15in, i would like to go with a symmetrical 10 and 10...both being connected to a single drawer. Is there a good way of doing this? Or do i just connect the lower drawer front to the maximera drawer system and then make a ~20" tall plywood panel that screws to the fixed drawer front as well as the "floating" drawer front?
