I originally liked the soft ash but am leaning toward the soft greige my kitchen is off of our sunroom so unfortunately it does as it’s name would suggest and soaks up most of it coming in to the kitchen. My problem is what if my choices of flooring make the room look too busy and weird I’m nervous about making the wrong choice.

I’m open to all suggestions I just don’t want a grey floor in my mind I just wanted to warm up the room by adding some brown tones the cabinet itself is a grey stain so you can see the wood tones underneath if that helps.

Do you have to chose one of the options you listed? Those floors would not warm up the room and I feel like the want to compete with your cabinetry.

Thanks so much @rtpaige03 I agree what I had in my mind wasn’t translating well when I would go into the tile store which is why I need help. Out of the options in the suggestion pic @boxerpal I love the 1st and last option photos and that’s what sings to me now to just translate those color options to reality we’ll see how that goes lol.

Those floors both look so rustic, is that what you are going for? What about one like these?

not sure what type of flooring you are looking at, these are lvp.

2nd pic is too yellow. first one look fine. Just keep in mind that once that is all laid out, that pattern is going to be very busy. Doesn't seem like it is on the sample, but it will be. if you're doing all solid, sedate furniture, you'll be fine.

Plus, it's a rather rustic look. great for a lake house or cabin. or if you have a rustic type of decor

Is real wood out of the question? cost should be about the same.

Not going for rustic which is what I think those tiles I picked out were leaning towards. I wanted a porcelain wood look tile. Although I love the look of real wood in a kitchen I’m worried about the damage with dropping a can or scratches which is why I was leaning toward porcelain wood look tile. I really love the pics you guys provided with what looks like an oak colored flooring with a light grey stain. That’s what’s been in my head but translated differently once I got into the store. Too many options made me extremely overwhelmed plus the lighting in the store is so different than my house. We will be changing out the recessed lighting and installing led lights in the caps.

I had site finished real wood in a kitchen. Yeah, dropping a can or something might ding the finish, but wood floors have character and the dings don’t stand out. I had tile in a kitchen. Dropping a can chipped the tile which stood out worse. Don’t even get me started on the disaster that happened to the grout when a bottle of red wine was dropped. If you get a wood floor in a medium to light tone, you will be surprised how forgiving it is

garcia, I did a engineered french oak, wide plank flooring and have loved it. it's had all sorts of things spilled and dropped on it. cleans up very easily

This particular brand comes in about 15 color tones.

That floor is gorgeous and definitely along the lines of what I want. How the heck did I go in an entirely different direction in the store is beyond me I think all the options overwhelmed me.

So for the sake of argument the rest of the main floor has original hardwood wood it be weird to them add an engineered hardwood to the kitchen? If I chose to go that route. Honestly I’m open to all suggestions. I don’t have a large kitchen it’s a u shaped kitchen just trying to update it. This is what my kitchen looks like now. In my dream kitchen there would be room for an island but I’m not complaining I love my home. I will need some ideas on that wall where that table is perhaps some open shelving there and I do want to get some table options and don’t know if I should keep the ceiling fan idea or replace with one of Beth H lighting options. For the backsplash I was thinking white subway tile and I’ll post a pic of the countertop I chose

The way the kitchen is now is how it was when we purchased the home. So this project would be changing and updating to fit more of my style.

if possible, match the hardwood and bring it into the kitchen.

You never want to have fake wood next to real wood. That goes for woo-look tile too.

I wouldn't do a diff type of wood flooring against the old wood.

Either replace all of it to match,

lace in new planks in the kitchen that matches the old planks elsewhere, have it all refinished to match,

or, forgo the wood and do a tile in the kitchen area.

don't you have current pics you can post that show the flooring from the other room into the kitchen tile?

take some really good photos and post those (no judgement, I promise) so we can see your layout

I honestly hate the orange color of my original floors and will get them sanded and restained but that will come after the kitchen didn’t want the workers messing up the floors after I just got them redone. Omg it sounds like I hate everything about my house lol but I don’t honestly just a work in progress. In my dream home I would have those wide plank tiles in that tone you posted Beth H but my husband is not going to go for changing the original floors the most we plan on being here is another 5 years. But I did want the kitchen redone and updated so here we are.

Wow all of those ideas are amazing. So the faux wood tile is out for sure I like hexagon tile idea and herringbone tile idea but going back to my original dilemma keeping in mind that the sunroom soaks up much of the kitchen’s natural lighting I don’t want it to appear to dark (which is what I feel my current cabinets do) and I don’t want it to feel too cold. So lighter brighter with some warm elements in that case should I go with a beige colored tile? I actually like those dark grey tiles the hex and herringbone but would that work with the cabinets and countertop?
