I’m struggling to see the reason for covering a feature stone wall with wood. Am I missing something?

Yes, too much stone on the front and you can see in the pic on the left side slightly lighter stone in one patch. About 10 years ago a window was covered and the stone is different. I want to cover that.

I am also of the why would you cover a nice stone wall with wood, but i think it will make a nice contrast with the stone so it's all good.

As for landscaping advice, it is difficult to offer good suggestions for a single bed in a total lack of context of the bigger picture of the house and landscape and with no location given.

What I can glean from your picture and mockup is there is a bed of gravel on top of landscape fabric. If you want real plants, even in a MCM style, the fabric has to go. It does not prevent weeds and is harmful to the soil. You can still use the gravel as the mulch. In the mockup I question highlighting the gutter down spouts in black. That is generally a feature you want to make disappear.

what landscape is in the rest of the yard. Is this at the front middle if the house behind a walkway to the front? Can you add pictures from further back for a full view? Lots of options but need to make sure it ties in with its surroundings. :)

A nice rock water feature and river rock or decorative stone with some local plants on either side would look nice and tie into your existing landscape.

Still in progress. My wife and I do most everything ourselves and we are slow. Shooting for June /4th as tgat is my son’s bday and we are having a ton of people over.
