melonie- I'm going to offer some friendly advice, so please don't be insulted. This is a very simple repair...if you know what you're doing and if you know what a safe installation should look like when you're done. I'm concerned that this problem developed when you were replacing a bulb. That either means that there is some deterioration in the wiring or socket and those parts need to be entirely replaced, or you are not experienced enough to make a safe repair. Whatever the case, you should get help from a friend who knows something more than you do about wiring. I'd hate to have you make what you thought was a safe repair, only to electrocute yourself some night.

I'd take that very special lamp to a good lighting shop where the staff is trained to know the best style and shape shade to go with it. I love the rectangular one that Lisa posted, but I don't feel it's the right shape for the lamp. I recently made this lamp after buying it from eBay as shown in the second pic. A rectangular shape is right for this one due to the shape of the base.
