With all the sand that is bound to get tracked into the home, I'd consider wood look porcelain tile. I'm in Florida and have tile in my home and don't find it cold.

IMO wood look tile is already dated and fools no one I would look at alrge format plain porcelain tile with matching grout , be aware if you get something with too much pattern removing and starting over is expensive. Vinyl in a stone pattern might work but also can be damaged from too much sand grit so a good mat at the door .

Patricia, I started to see wood look tile coming in from Italy back in the 80s so after this many years, I think it's here to stay, especially after all this LVT gets dented and scratched and has to be replaced.

Dented? I have Coretec LVP in my Florida home and honestly I don’t know what you would have to do to damage it.

I have ceramic wood look tiles in my home up north in our tv room which is off the garage.

I have had it way before it became a thing. I don’t see it as dated. It’s another choice that can make sense in certain areas for certain lifestyles.

I think flooring is different than say cabinetry or the popular colors.

You can look into Cortec tiles. so many choice.

I live on the water in nj. and have actually been floor shopping today and yesterday. I looked at the luxury vinyl, one salesman told me a lot of his contractors are installing a lot of it in million dollar beach homes. It still looks like vinyl to me. I’m going with engineered(because of humidity) French oak I’m also using 7 1/2 “ wide extra long planks (9ft.) because I have a very open floor plan. Everything that came with shorter planks or all the same length would have way too many seams IMO

You have to tap on photos to see them better. This is a house near me for sale 2 million. I don’t know what the floor is. Could be vinyl. I think it’s beautiful and would probably hide sand or scratches easily

another thing to consider is that vinyl or tile also laminate has repeated patterns that can become obvious in large spaces

I just contacted Hurst hardwoods(online) located in Florida, today. I ordered 2 samples $9. They have 3/4“ thick engineered which I did not see in any of the 6 stores I went to. Another is uptown floors online they can custom stain
