Master Bedroom Help, Awkward Window
Comments (5)move the bed to the left (in the photo), and get a wall treatment that extends past each side of the bed. hang the curtain so it makes the window look larger than it is, and centered over the bed. Then for staging it'll look symmetric, and for the rest of the time, you can open/tie back the curtain and enjoy the natural light. A grey shantung or similar curtain would probably work well with your décor....See MoreHelp with treatments for window and slider in master bedroom
Comments (5)You can do the panels On the slider which can be pulled aside (they can on windows too) for unibstructed view when opened. It’s also acceptable to shutter the windows with panels and then just place panels on slider. I would do three full panels testing the two windows as one large one. Have them shuttered that way as well so it’s not as choppy. The space between the slider and window i would do one double panelto dress both sides. Or you can do a natural woven shade or roman shade on double windows that pulls up and down. Neither of these will give you view unless opened all the way. Maybe if we saw more of the room we could tell you which would best suit the space....See MoreWindow treatments for awkward, over-the-bed transom window
Comments (9)I would not spend the money to get customized Roman blinds for that window unless you really like the shape of the window and want to highlight it. Just get regular blinds and have them mounted on a board at the top of the window to compensate for the thickness of the trim. It will obscure the shape on the top, but will give you good light control. You could get a pretty print. You could do the same with Venetian blinds. I like Venetian blinds for the bedroom, because you can open the slats to get in light and people can't see into your room, whereas a Roman shade has to be opened wide to get in light. One last thought. I have never had a headboard for my bed. But I have had a quilt hung on the wall over my bed for years. (It is a piece of art.) I've never had a problem. So if you allow a couple of inches between the wall the the curtains, it might work for you....See Morewindow treatment for awkward BR window?
Comments (5)I would recommend top down / bottom up pleated shades. (I would recommend seeking a really good brand though, the cheap ones break easily.) edit: would recommend for the shades to be light filtering, and then add curtain panels she can close at night for better darkening. top down is excellent for letting light in while keeping privacy, depending on the angle. if the neighbors have a window that's higher up than hers, then that setup won't work. if that won't work, then I recommend aluminum blinds, 2" wide. they'll be lighter and easier to raise. good brands make nice looking ones and I think the 2" wide ones look better than the skinny type. add sheer curtains. she can use the sheers for partial privacy during the day, and they'll soften the look of the blinds....See MoreUser
