Paint color for turquoise-ish fixtures
Comments (9)Those are great light fixtures! I would paint the walls an off-white or cream, including the outlet covers and vent. I would also paint the window trim, baseboard and shutters the wall color so there is a bit less turquoise in the room and for a less choppy look. I would probably leave the medicine cabinet and vanity turquoise, and bring in two accent colors with towels, rug and artwork. It could be bright (yellow and orange) or subtle (navy blue and darker turquoise like the colors in this tile:) My daughter has white tile and marble in her master bath, but had orange and turquoise towels, so the artwork and accessories bring those colors into the room. Comments (44)Hostalover, Somehow I missed the closeup photo of your bathroom toile when I was responding with my post. Yes, you're right, it's not Rustic Life, Jamestown, Country Life or any other frequently seen toile pattern. It's very similar to the fabric pattern I used for my daughter's wedding, though hers was in blue and ivory, and unfortunately unique enough that finding matching fabric a year later was an impossibility, sigh.... At least you know that what you have is not something you'll see everywhere else! I love the colors you've used in your bedroom and bathroom thus far, especially the wall color! I do think that the black and white gingham would be a perfect companion for white curtains, though I'd go with a smaller check size if it were mine. You also might consider making a black and white gingham shower curtain, trimmed with whatever accent color you select for your bedroom curtains, or trim the existing white curtain with some gingham. This would pull the two rooms together. I'm sure that whatever you decide, it will look luscious, and I can't wait to see the results! Heidi...See Moreexterior paint - orange turquoise purple?
Comments (38)Wow. I didn't expect such an huge helpful response to my post; this is the very first time I exceeded the bandwidth on my email account! I have now moved the pics to photobucket and they are shown below. lyfia -- Thanks for sharing those ideas and pics, especially GarageGable.jpg. We will be adding a small opening in the attic for ventilation and are planning to do something similar. But yours is a much nicer version and it's great pic to show our GC. Do you mind if we use it? igloochic -- yours is a lovely purple! aprophinia -- Very good point about orange limiting my landscaping options. I too love gardening and I didn't realize orange would be a hard color to work with. Maybe it's because I want to plant fuschia bougainvillea against the front porch, and I had been visualizing it against an orange backdrop. As I read the responses and explored the options that have been suggested, I really like several of them, even though they were never on my radar before (eg. deep purple, barn red). I came to realize what I really want is a colorful, cheerful house. That doesn't have to be in-your-face or be in my fav color. I dislike pink in general but as I dropped off my kids this morning, I saw a deep pink house and I was surprised by how much I liked it. We'll continue to mull over it. The wall board idea is great -- we are going to try that out (thanks amysrq) Btw, I also showed the pics to some local folks. Nobody liked Idea #2 because they thought it was boring. I was pleasantly surprised by that. Maybe it's the SF bay area, people are more ok with colors here, even if they don't use it on their own homes. Comments (30)Here’s the deal. Logs are a little different from other building materials. Even dimensional lumber like stud 2x4s can be painted. The difference is that logs contain moisture. Quite a bit of moisture in fact. You see, logs are much thicker than dimensional lumber. And they contain the full tree, not just a cross section like most lumber. So these logs start out with a lot of moisture in them. Giving them a year to dry out is great, but it doesn’t get rid of all the moisture. Plus, there’s a certain amount of moisture that will always stay in the logs. So even when you’re constructing a log cabin, the logs contain moisture. https://outdoortroop.com/can-you-paint-a-log-cabin-do-this-instead/...See More- 3 years ago
