Thanks everyone! I did prop up the back pink flower. I tried to put the black shade from lamp #1 on the white classic column lamp base lamp #2 and even with fringe taped up, the shape of the shade was not right for the base. The swing lamps next to bed are from a closeout sale on homedecorators.com, I think. I know a gal on here has them in her bedroom as well. There were like $16 or $18 each. The room does have a mix of elements. The black shade lamp used to be on a black wrought iron glass shelved vanity in the Princess Room which does not exist any more. I gave the twin bed, bedding, and vainty to St. Vincent De Paul a few weeks ago. I have two large color pencil and ink architectual drawings from a class project and a watercolor (not mine) of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs hanging on wall to right of bed. I have a desk with tv and computer and black office chair opposite of bed in front of window. There is also a large wall clock with a shelf mounted underneath that is on wall to right of dresser. I used to have several more floral prints in room but I decided it was too many. Could I paint the green shade from lamp #2 black? Thanks again.

So, for those of you that didn't see the doors that came in with the odd glaze, here are the pictures: They looked sloppy to me. The KD suggested that I try the stain in another style. So I ordered the Starmark maple door in the Accord style in honey with chocolate glaze. I also ordered an alder door in the Brekenridge with the ratan stain. Finally, I decided to open myself up to another brand and ordered a Kraftmaid maple door in the Englewood style in honey spice with mocha highlights. Here's a shot of the three doors: The door on the left is the alder door, the door on the right is the Kraftmaid door and the door in the middle is the maple Accord door. I'm leaning toward the Accord. It looks much better than the Brekenridge. What do you think?

Hi Bossyvossy, I bought the material already from Calico Corners in the spring when they had their sale, it is the exact color of my sofa and love seat. The material has been sitting in the spare room, I have a lady can make the slip covers and is ready to make them. If leather chairs would look better, I will wait to get other ones that aren't as low to the ground but, if slip cover will be what compliments better, then I will do those. Your suggestion and opinion are much appreciated, thank you! Lisa

I don't know your exact shade of color-everybody has their own mental image when hearing yellow/beige-but as somebody who lived with yellow walls..they're actually pretty versatile. I went with a vibrant palette of yellow-brick red-aubergine. Then as time went I added more colors in patterns etc. Blue would work of course. Maybe cornflower blue? Maybe turquoise? White and a bit of black. Greens since they work everwhere..bring a plant and you have a green:) But I also loved adding chartreuse. Look at lot of inspiration(can be decor but can also be art, or nature, and whatnot), and you'll feel what clicks with you the most. Decide what you like more -sharper contrasts? softer ones? As little contrast as possible? Do you want your room to be more upbeat or more quiet? there's no one right answer, we all are different and your personal reaction to colors and their relationships should govern your choices. And always strive to vary your textures. Then the room will be interesting even if you go with a very tight, almost monochromatic color palette.
