Comments (42)This post helped me in my decision for my dinette set. Thanks Mag. You made some really good points. I couldn't decide for 4 years. I ended up picking something very similar to what you mocked up here. What you said about contrasts helped me conclude that I needed a shape very similar to what you drew. I was going for Parsons, but they would have been yet another rectangle in my space. I was also able to convince DH that a plywood seat would have enough flex to be comfortable, so he was set up for a win when he sat in the chair to try it out. Because I have very dark floors I went with a honey color chaiir. My elements are very similar to the OP's. Metal bar stools, and amber /orange pendants. Dark cabinets and floors. This was a really helpful post. Check out this sexy chair I picked. My table will be an ellipse. Comments (20)Thanks you Sena and benjesbride. I came up with this before I saw what you posted so I will look more closely at your details. I really like the idea of the dining area where I have it if I can make it work. It just feels more natural with those windows. Also, in my plan I have cut down the pantry to just the back wall of shelves. Will maybe need to use a sliding door there. Barn door? So trendy! :) I would love a wall there so I can also have coat hooks on the other side and as a bit of a barrier when you enter the house. Also, the weird cabinets behind the arm chairs are there because I couldn't figure out how to put a wall there - which is existing and must stay. There is no overhang on my island drawing but irl there will be - probably 12 inches. I know - less than recommended but it's what we have now and it works. So - does this layout work? Is it too tight? The furniture is also the dimension of what we currently have. I don't love the layout of the upper cabinets - but not sure how to arrange them. Thanks for looking and reading!...See MoreI need help on redoing my dining area
Comments (7)My non-pro feedback: I don’t like rugs under my dining table, so I would remove; or as others have said, a narrower one centered under table and chairs? New chandelier and definitely new, fuller drapes in a colour matching or containing your paint and chair fabric. Have you considered moving table ever so slightly to centre under chandelier, and swapping chairs and bench? So bench could tuck in out of line of traffic from door? A big beautiful piece of artwork over your buffet and you’re done. You have a nice room and furniture. Oh and could you change the window covering on the door to a nice film for privacy if you need that? The little curtain there is distracting from your look....See Morekrobb64
