What color grout for wall subways if floor has mapei silver...
Comments (6)We just had white subway (rittenhouse) installed with white grout on the walls. And then unglazed hex on the floor with silverado grout. It looks great. I personally think white subway with white grout is more classic looking, but I like the look of a white grey as well. I think it depends on your overall aesthetic. If you are trying to have your bathroom look original like we were, I would go with the classic white. But if you are doing more of a mixed style in your bathroom with modern touches, I might go with a darker grout. You can still see the brick pattern with white, but it is much more subtle. Of course in our case, we were also dealing with a black subway chair rail and black bulnose. I rightly thought a non-white grout would look funny....See MoreWill I regret white grout on a backsplash? With Grout Maximizer?
Comments (5)Fun, I used epoxy grout in the bath surround. Yes it needs more cleaning to remove, but not the horror stories I've read. I did use a tile sealer on the top of tile before grouting and often wonder if this made a difference. As with all reviews you are going to read the rough adventures. I can't remember if those who had problems were new at grouting or the type of epoxy used. The process and manufacturer is never really mentioned. Why not try it on a small board? I probably used this on a couple of square feet at a time and cleaned off as I went. My spacing is 1/4". It looks great, smooth and clean. Is as hard as regular grout, not sure why others had an issue with it staying soft. And I used a premix, which many said to stay away from. I haven't had to do anything with mine for 5 years. Will add that it looks a bit different than normal grout, but you would have to look close. Wipes down right along with tile whenever wanted. It definitely seals between the tile. Take a chance and sample it before the big job. They have small containers. Also, even though this worked for me and I would do it again, there is always the norm of wanting what has always been. Standard grout can still be the norm for many....See MoreWhat color white grout for white subway tile
Comments (11)kegrant- I too would love to see photos and do post on what you finally decide. I too have simply white cabinets (ikea lidingo) and soapstone counters and am leaning towards white subways with white or possibly silvery gray grout (DH's preference) but everyone who looks at my kitchen says you want to add more white?!?! I am pretty confident I will love the look, but photos are always better. Best of luck to you in your search!...See MoreWhite Tile with Mapei Warm Gray or Frost
Comments (7)Hi, we just went through this ordeal for my son's bathroom covered with white subway tiles. After sifting through many pictures, my heart was set on Mapei's Frost - even though my contractor insisted on white. Unfortunately, Frost was not readily available since it's considered a special order color at Lowes and HD. My contractor suggested Warm Gray and mocked up a couple of tiles. For me, it was way too dark. Luckily, we called around a found a store 20 miles away that had 2 bags left. (Floor & Decor). We went with Frost and it looks gorgeous...even my contractor had to agree. I'll try to post pics later. Good luck!...See Morenicolecasey
