Creative idea to cover an old square built in tv cabinet

I have this old school built in tv cabinet which I am using as a standup office. Any clever ideas on how to cover up the opening and my mess of an office when not in use? Thanks!

Do you know your cabinet color?

Can the desk piece under the computer be removed so you can take it to be

color matched?

it will be interesting to see what others come up with.

Personally though, I don’t find it offensive. I’m assuming there is no way to get an extra door made from where these cabinets come from?

Wow, you guys are terrific! Thank you all so much for taking the time to answer! I love the idea of the built in. That might be the best/cheapest solution for now. I'm posting a few shots from the back of the room so you can get a better idea of the entire space. I didn't prep the room, so it looks a bit cattywampus. It used to have a pool table in it and the man person that lives here thought the tv on the high shelf would be better for viewing while playing pool. Probably would have been if anyone ever played pool in there. So glad to see that thing go, but boy do I miss my laundry folding table. ;) After the kitchen is done (next week=yay!) I'm going to begin on this room starting with that corner area, some kind of window treatment for the sliders, new lighting (PO put ceiling fans in there 8( ) and paint for the entire great room. So, should I keep the depth? You'll notice that the shape of the space is squared off then moves into a triangle. Arcy, I'd still really love a gas fireplace in there. Not only for ambiance but warmth too. My only option would be propane however. Not out of the question some time in the future.

Allison, we have a similar set up with our tv and its equipment being hidden in cabinets. DH and I rigged a small, simple, inaudible fan (from RadioShack) and installed it in the backside of the cabinet, or in the drywall, where it's not seen. The fan is wired to the amplifier so that it turns "on" whenever the amplifier is powered, and it draws the hot air from inside the cabinet and pushes it out. Before this, we had to keep the cabinet door ajar as well. We've rigged these little fans inside computer cabinets too. If you have a small enclosure/cabinet, then a second "hole" is needed to suck the outside air "in." (I've been able to hide this in the ledge part of a toe kick.) But your cabinet closet looks large enough that you wouldn't need that.

Update! Just wanted to post a quick update. I took most of your advice and didn't sweat it, bought baskets and wine rack to stage the kitchen. My moms house sold in less than a week on the market! It settled last week...Bittersweet. But wanted to just show what I did, thanks everyone :)

It's a clever use of the space. I think it's fine to leave it open.

But other than some type of door system, might a screen of some sort work in that area?

I would probably have doors made. There isn't enough side space for pocket slide out doors, unless you cut the interior shelving.

I would paint the doors an accent color. Stablize and hang 2 pieces of art on the door fronts.

Or...maybe instead of art, 2 padded photo boards for pics or notes.

For cheapo fix I would probably glue a couple of strong magnets along the top inside of the box, and then take a piece of plywood, cut perfectly to fit the space, and decorate one side of it with something you think would look good there. Then glue magnets to the back side of that —— so you end up having something you can slap over the front of the box that will stay in place, but is easy to remove and put back on again.
