I’d keep the landscape simple. Boxwoods and some seasonal flowers.
I’d save for a few other updates... I know you didn’t ask about but... ( I’d remove the diagonal lines on the roof peaks. Paint that trim white. Remove the shutters. Beef up the posts....) this is such a super cute home. Love it.

The only place you need height is about where that cat is standing :-) Look for an evergreen that stays columnar and doesn't get much higher than the eaves ... maybe a holly, boxwood, or thuja? I can't identify the yellow-ish plants along the front, or the twiggy decidous bushes in front. It might be worth while to let everything leaf out and see for sure what you have, before getting rid of too much.

If I were sitting on the porch, I'd like some privacy from the front and the side. A row of panicum virginia 'shenandoah' would provide a lovely, wavy, soft 'wall' of grass that would persist through the winter. In early spring, you'd cut it back to ground level but by the time the weather is warm enough to linger outside, it would be almost full height again. For privacy from the side, with no planting room, you could use trellis. Or, depending on sun and wind and personal esthetics, hang a sun curtain in loose folds, or a shade cloth taut between the posts.

Can the yellow shrubs get any taller?

I can't clearly see the corner but I think a small tree in that area might work. Just not planted close to the house.

Is there any way you can relocate the path to the front door?
