Cell phone question
Comments (18)DH and I both are on Verizon (him: Motorola Droid, me: LG Dare inherited from DH but previously Samsung Flipshot) and we have had absolutely NONE of these problems! When I have a voice mail, I get a white screen with the number (or name, if it's one of my contacts, or "unknown" if it's a blocked number or a call from a multi-line system) is displayed at the top of the screen along with a timestamp, with buttons below saying "check voicemail" or "ignore". If I have a missed call where the caller didn't leave a voicemail, or I "ignore" the voicemail, I get a screen reading "missed call", name/number, timestamp, and buttons for either "ignore" or "add to contacts". If I've "ignored" any of these things, little icons appear on the screen - a little person for a voicemail, an envelope for a waiting text message, or a tiny phone for a missed call. I tap any of those icons to activate it. DH's Droid works about the same way....See Moreanother cell phone question
Comments (17)i either keep it in the car or carry in my purse. i often use just a small swing coach pack or tiny purse but i usually don't have pockets lol. i also don't trust myself not to lose the phone from a pocket. i have an expensive personal phone and a blackberry storm for work so i am very aware about not loosing them. i have a co-worker who just lost his new blackberry storm we all got for work while he was on a rollercoaster :-) this past weekend, it fell out of his pocket. he's an owners son so i'm sure it's no big deal... most of the yr i have to have my work cell 24/7 (semi drivers on the road) so i'm used to having it. i got rid of the landline a couple yrs ago. the last several yrs i only used it for faxing clients paperwork as it had no long distance since i used a cell for free long distance. since we have no landline i found a puter program that allows me to scan something i want to fax and send it to a fax# saves us $40 a month which was the cheapest line from Sprint-embarq 8 yrs ago. ~ liz...See MoreI am so old...because I have a cell phone
Comments (23)Wait, you agree that "those that use their cell phones while driving are risking the lives of many people" but you say you will answer the phone when your family calls? I don't really understand this. I get that sometimes there are emergencies but those are very rare. The problem is when everyone gets to create their own set of exceptions to when it's okay to use the phone that we get into trouble in society as everyone has different risk thresholds they are willing to take. Unfortunately it's usually the innocent ones who aren't doing anything who have to pay for those exceptions and choices, far too often with their lives. It's a good idea to pull over if you must take a call. If I need to take or make a call I usually go into a parking lot, or will pull over depending where I am. I do see far fewer people on their phones while driving compared to a few years ago though so hopefully people are realizing how dangerous it is. In my area they are really cracking down on it though. I was pulled over for glancing down at my GPS once, and the officer asked to check my phone to look for texting or calls. He let me go when there was nothing recent on it but I imagine they catch a lot of people and it's not a cheap ticket....See MoreCell Phone Feature Question
Comments (15)on the att site if you put in your info for your account and select the upgrade my phones option you get to see all the phones you could choose and read about them and see the prices, on each phone there is a little box you can check that says compare pick several and do the compare and then you can see the differences. the ones they offer that do not require a data plan that you may be interested in are Samsung Eternity Pantech Impact LG VU plus Sharp FX Samsung Solstice 2 on each one your can see how it is rated and also read the user reviews. You do not have to use all the features that are on a phone just the ones you want. and if you will not be using internet just do not get a data package, some of them do say that you must buy the data package with that phone so stay away from those. All of them will have texting available and you can add an unlimited texting feature if you use that alot. if you will use the camera look for the one with the highest pixel rating, look at the battery life on each one, some have a real keyboard that slides out some are on the screen, pick the ones that have the features you like best. you can do that comparison with out actually going through with the upgrades I look at them often then just close out the page. I still like the bravo best for our next one....See MoreAlisande
