Pull the trigger (today) on this Crypton fabric???? Like now?
Comments (19)You can go on Joanne's website and search for Crypton. Link below. There are a number that are on sale now at half off. And the starting prices seem lower than on the Crypton website or on 'designer' websites. The 25% coupon is there on the right side of the page. Good only through today. But the offer does come back now and then - fori is right about that. In their stores there is often a 40% or 50% off sale for one cut of fabric. Other sites have Crypton for way less than you were quoted. DIYupholsterysupply.com has a huge selection, overhwelming really, at around $30 - $38 a yard. No Crypton currently in their closeouts ;( Newtoto.com has some great pricing on Crypton, $10-15 a yard, but maybe only 80 or so selections to pick from. Great deal if they have something you like. Smaller remnants of several yards are as low as $7 a yard. Good for a chair or chair seats. They send free samples promptly, and offer a $4 color chart so your take on the color is more accurate (Brilliant idea! I bought one). Warehousefabricsinc.com has good pricing and selection but more for drapery weight. I haven't figured out how to search for Crypton there. Schindlersfabrics.com also has good selection, especially higher end stuff, but again not the easiest to navigate if you are looking for something specific. There is a 25% off anniversary coupon good through 1/31/13. Could make hunting worth it... Good luck. Here is a link that might be useful: Joanne's Crypton fabrics...See MoreCrypton Upholstery Fabric
Comments (6)Look at Jo-ann's online- they have most of the colors on the crypton website plus some that aren't on the crypton website. There are a lot of soft neutrals as well. The online are currently on sale. I think some of the major designer fabric manufacturers(Kravet, Robert Allen, Duralee etc) have some exclusive prints but it takes a bit more research to find them. Look under "contract fabrics". http://www.kravetcontract.com/search/fabresults.asp?Code=CON&Cat=CRY-Crypton&Price=All&mill=&Page=1 http://www.robertallendesign.com/searches/search_results_graphic.aspx?tp=finder&type=fabric&brand=4&color=0amp;usage=7&cat=0amp;style=0amp;design=0amp;performance=0amp;finish=326&pageSize=14&pageNum=1 Here is a link that might be useful: Joanne's online...See MoreSunbrella vs. Crypton
Comments (10)Just now seeing this post. You likely have already moved forward, but I wanted to let you know that Sunbrella & Crypton have different pros/cons. They both are considered performance fabrics, meaning they take everyday use better than your average upholstery fabric, primarily from the stains/sun effects. Sunbrella is better for stains--you can even use bleach on it. Crypton has a better "rub factor" (more durable for everyday use so it won't wear as fast). They both have improved their manufacturing process so that the fabrics have a softer touch than in the past. Sunbrella can be used, as several above mentioned, outdoors. Crypton is intended primarily for interior use. Based on your comments, I would recommend looking at Crypton....See MoreBrand new sofa stained - crypton fabric - help!
Comments (18)Omigosh @jhouse I didn't see your comment 2 years ago and just got notice of this thread being revived and saw it. I am completely in love with my Crypton. No pills, spills and stains (tho I am careful) are easy to remove with a damp cloth and some dish soap. I wrote about what I bought in the previous comment, but I guess I didn't link to the actual fabric. I'm sure it's too late for you but maybe someone else can use the info B5605 Parchment the herringbone is very small and barely noticeable as a pattern. https://www.greenhousefabrics.com/fabrics/category/crypton_fabrics I think the pilling problem might be caused by the blend of the fibers. This is mostly rayon, which is very soft to touch and doesn't pill. I can imagine if you selected a blend with mostly poly or acrylic, pilling could be a problem. It also has a 63,000 double rub durability, which also might affect the pilling, not sure. It's also USA made and is water cleanable. I imagine if you got one that is NOT water cleanable and used water on it, that could affect it also. This fabric has no pills at all, even when I've rubbed it removing a stain. Even that doesn't affect the appearance of the fabric....See More- 3 years ago
