Hale Navy Conundrum
Hi All, I am painting my kitchen cabinets BM Hale Navy. I bought the sample from the paint store and once I officially decided, I bought a gallon of the BM Hale Navy in Advanced - Satin. However, now I am super confused. The sample and the gallon do not match at all. The sample matches the BM Hale Navy Chip and is definitely more blue while the gallon leans way more grey.
I called BM to confirm the formulas used for each and they are both correct for the paint can type/size. The rep did mention it could be an equipment issue but the only way to determine that is if I send in samples of both to them.
For anyone that used Hale Navy in Advanced - Satin, does the can look like the attached when opened? Or does anyone have thoughts if this discrepancy is expected and the paint color will turn out correct in the end?

Comments (33)Beth--- this is just my 2 cents but I would not do that color on the front door. I live in a neighborhood of over 2000 homes in sunny Florida. We can pretty much paint our homes any color we want. I see all the homes who have done the pop of color for the front door and 9 out of 10 times it doesn't work. All you notice is the door. I find it takes away from the home instead of adding value to it. When we were trying to decide on our color my fiancee actually made renditions of the home. He would add different colors to the door so we could see how it would look. Comments (6)Thanks Patricia. I hear you on lighting but I actually like to keep lights low in here when I am working or reading. Feels cozier to me, like an old world library. That was the whole inspiration behind painting the bookshelves a darker color (they are white currently). I have ceiling recessed lights that are almost never on. I have a desk lamp on my desk and another by my reading chair/recliner; If I am in there at night those are on. Comments (11)I like the white shelves. I think navy will look great on the walls. How about painting the walls and the back of the shelving unit navy and then decide if you want it all navy?
