Hi I finally got my key a couple of days ago. So yes the plan I posted is a mirror image. I forgot that there is a door to the closet. I wonder if I close up the door, and move the door next to the toilet bowl, and remove the door for the toilet bowl, if that will work. But it might be weird to have the entrance to the closet next to the toilet. I got some better measurements. The length of the tub is 62". But there is 2 inches of wall on one side of the tub, which I think is hollow. I don't know why it isn't flush with the wall where the doors to the closet and toilet are. The width of the tub from the wall backing is 41". From that same wall to the side of the vanity is 58". To the side of the cabinet is 59". I am tempted now to put a 59" x 32" tub (or maybe a 60"!?) next to the vanity (along the same wall), and I will have 32" to work with for a wall in shower on the doors side? Or any suggestion would be good. Few days ago, I came up with this: From forums But I think this is going to cost big time, involing moving the toilet, and half of the vanity, redoing the floor, wall,etc. And I don't know if the entrance to the closet would be too small (3 feet). By the way, I don't know how the DWV plumbing is run. Any thing I need to look for?

I know I probably went overboard, but I have been searching Houzz for shower/tub combos for myself if I decide to go in that direction. Most of these pictures have Master Bath titles - they tend to be small houses or apartments in large cities where space is an issue. They all have a generous sized tub. A few have extra shower bling and even a separate tub filler. All of them have material choices and the level of tile work that you see in a master bathroom. I'm sure that if I searched Houzz I could find just as many, or even more, remodels of small master baths where they have just built a walk in shower. I think the decision to do a shower/tub may be a personal choice because they want a soaking tub - since they are titled Master I'm assuming the bath is not the only bath in the house and they could easily just go with a shower. Thanks all. My issue with a shower tub combo is I am getting tired of the gross shower liner. I really want to update my bathroom and the curtain/liner has lost its luster for me. I don't like the glass enclosed tub setup, too hard to clean. Maybe someone could help me? I have not found a way to draw a layout online so I can play with designs. My room is 95" wide by 130" deep. On a 2D drawing, along the 'top' wall would be a large linen closet, a 54" single bowl vanity and the toilet. Along the bottom wall, across from the toilet is the 57" bath tub. On the side wall nearest the toilet, there is a 32" window about 20" off the toilet wall. On the opposite side wall is a 36" door in the lower corner. We are planning on taking the room down to the studs and starting over. To save money we would prefer to not move plumbing, especially the toilet, but will if we need to in order to have the best design. BTW, next door to the bathroom, behind the shower wall, is a similar sized walk in closet. Since it is fairly wide, there is a possibility of making it narrower and giving some space to the bathroom, if need be. Wishlist: double sink vanity, toilet behind a privacy wall, walk in shower, whirlpool tub, linen closet. Realistic: double sink vanity and large walk in shower, toilet, linen closet.

Wrighthouse, thanks. Since I've never used the tub (or shower) in the bathroom attached to the bedroom, I'm used to walking down the hall to take a bath every night. That's no hardship. I don't mind that. I just want to do what is best design-wise, with the space. Down the road, will future buyers go oooh & ahhh over the thought of a super-spacious shower, since most of America showers?? If so, it's worth the investment, & worth me walking down the hall to bathe. If not, then I should think about other options. Thanks for your input!
