Improving curb appeal: White house, black trim, and red bricks
Comments (7)The red bricks are not really dating the house any more than the architectural style is. It is what it is......a mid to late century ranch style. And unless you do something significant to alter or amend that style, it will still read from that time period. Sure, you could cover the brick with ledgestone or a stone veneer but that is not going to change the style or necessarily "update" it. I think if you really want to update the exterior appearance, you need to get an architect involved. Any landscaping would necessarily wait until after all that was completed....See MoreRed Brick Ranch Trim!
Comments (14)Thank you so much. I will keep the white trim. I will have to figure out how to fix the garage because I hate the way it currently looks with white tin, and creamy trim. Maybe when we repaint the trim to a bright white, it won’t look as bad on the garage. I’ve attached some photos of where I was getting the blue idea for the shutters. If I do keep the storm door, I will paint the door white to match. We honestly never use the storm door, but I’m afraid I’ll miss it! Lol On the columns, I simply want to widen them by a few inches and have them square all the way to the top rather than the skinnier tops as they are now. Nothing bulky. I hate the sidewalk lined with rock. That was my husband’s doing, and I will remove it. Thank you for taking the time to mock an example of landscaping. I absolutely love it. I plan to implement exactly what you said. I will post more pictures as we update!...See MoreRed brick ranch trim color help please!!
Comments (6)I have a very similar colored house and am having similar issues. Our brick is beige but there is pink colored red rock appointments at the bottom. Someone painted the trim red prior to us, and it really brought out the pink. The red painted trim faded to pink. Bad idea. I was thinking of going white, like yours to lessen the pink tones. An interior designer told me sage green would lessen the pink, but I couldn't commit to that. I have a Pinterest board that may interest you. https://pin.it/1lpNVkh I have a handful of red/pink brick homes on there. My vote would be a darker grey....See More1956 Red Brick Ranch BORING curb appeal
