StarMark Cabinets vs. Shiloh Cabinets???

Hello, we are planning our new kitchen. I have been visiting a few cabinet stores already. So far, StarMark caught my eyes. Searching online, it looks like StarMark does have a solid quality. The quote that we received on StarMark is pretty reasonable. So far, I am leaning towards StarMark.

Things popped up yesterday that the general contractors we interviewed happens to carry all the other materials that we need. The backsplash, the floor, the countertop, they are authorized dealer and have no issue supplying, fabricating and installing for us. This is a big plus to us since the backsplash and the countertop that we picked is a little unique, and we got serval complaints from other general contractors we met that they don't have confidence to deal with the materials we chose.

Today, I visited the showroom of the general contractors we met yesterday and learned they carry Shiloh Cabinetry. I felt the cabinets in person. Even though the cabinet construction sounds the same as StarMark, visual wise, I personally feel it is a little less quality than StarMark. The plywood that StarMark uses seem a little better quality. I am not sure if my eyes are cheating on me...

Does anyone have Shiloh Inset cabinets in the kitchen? We are looking at Maple door, Shaker style. How is Shiloh cabinet's quality? This is our permanent home and we want to install something that can last many years.

We have a small bathroom and installed a 36 inch cabinet from Shiloh in September 2020. Shaker inset doors. Its pretty and seems like good construction.

This past Feb 2021, When we went shopping for kitchen cabinets, we decided to go with Starmark. It was less expensive than the Shiloh quote. Coincidentally our neighbor installed Shiloh in their kitchen 3 years ago and when we looked at them now, the paint was rubbing off in high traffic surface areas more than I expected which I was worried about so that sealed the deal to go with Starmark.

We are in process of installing the Starmark cabinets and they look gorgeous! The contractor we hired to install them likes them. He complained about the back being thin but honestly we didn't select that upgrade. Full overlay shaker. Messy pictures but it's all I have for now.

We just did a whole house renovation with Shiloh cabinetry. I wish we had gone with another manufacture. Every single one of our cabinets have problems. We spent over $100,000 on cabinets. The Shilo representative in our area seems to be slow responding. When we called the manufacturer directly in Missouri they said the issue we are having (shrinkage on over 170 doors and drawer fronts) is not a warrantable issue. My husband and I have done quite a few home renovations and we feel the quality on these cabinets is lacking. Keep looking there’s much better out there for the same price

@sarahann764 Thank you so much for your feedback and comment. I am very sorry for the problem that you had in your renovation. I know how it feels when you spent a fortune, but the result didn't turn out well. There are so many cabinetries on the market and making a selection is definitely not an easy task.

I think we will drop off Shiloh on our planning book.

I had fiddled with ordering Starmark a few months ago and the discount was 70%, with the caveat that 3% needed to be added back into the final cost for a price change. I didn't pursue buying from the website as I found a distributor for Starmark about an hour away from me and once I saw the finish options available knew that the cabinets weren't appropriate for my home. Nothing wrong with them - I have built in bookshelves in the family room you can see from the kitchen and they didn't have a finish that wasn't noticably different. I don't know about Shiloh, but I thought Holiday cabinets were very nice. My neighbor has them and if we had gone with the same kitchen place she used I would have gotten Holiday. We picked another contractor and are getting Dynasty cabinets, which I think are probably comparable to Holiday.

No, the drawers are not peeling inside. We have HomeCrest throughout the whole house. We also have them in the basement bathroom and have a kitchenette down there. A few months after installation, some of the kitchen drawers needed adjustments. It was done very quickly. My husband just pointed out that one of the 36" drawers is off a little bit, but I had not noticed it myself. The drawer holds pots and pans; so the weight probably caused a little bit of settling. We did not buy the cabinets directly from the factory. We used a small local cabinet company as the go between; so I cannot say how working with the factory is. I don't know if you can even buy factory direct or not. One mistake I made was having a corner sink because that was how the builder designed the kitchen. That row of cabinets is L shaped and there is a lot of wasted space in that 90 degree angle. In order to use it, I would have to literally crawl under the sink to reach things back there. All in all, we are happy with all of the cabinets. I do wish I had more. Seems there is never enough space in cabinets or closets after you're in a house for a few years. Haven't used them in any of my projects, but I'd probably tell you to go white. It's more timeless. Also, NO GLAZE it will just make your new cabinets look dirty and old.

Bought Shiloh inset cabinets, had no problems, am very happy with and the installer was impressed with the quality. Needed a few extra pieces and they were quick to deliver.
