Shiloh vs. Grabill cabinetry
Comments (27)Kompy: I've looked at Shiloh cabinets enough that is why I noticed the door style. Several of their doors look so similar, unless you look closely you don't see the differences. Not sure if you noticed the posting that I posted that asked you a few questions regarding Shiloh. I'm in the same decision making process that deedles is in except I'm trying to decide between Shiloh, Crystal Keyline and some local Amish cabmakers. Shiloh is coming in the lowest and Crystal Keyline is the highest. I have to decide soon since this process has been going on for two years already....See MoreCabinet help! Shiloh vs Aspect
Comments (2)There was an extensive thread a few weeks ago on GW concerning the differences in the two lines; I learned a lot since the brands are not common in my part of the U.S. Several KDs shared their insights. I was impressed enough to recommend that my son in TN look into the Aspect line considering his budget constraints. http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2815727/cabinets-and-remodeling...See MoreCabinets: Conestoga vs Shiloh ?
Comments (12)There's a lot that can go into even a simple small space. This mudroom space isn't very big, but the modifications to the cabinets to get this look are numerous. Someone that doesn't work with cabinets every day, may not even know that some of these modifications are possible, much less how to indicate that you want that to happen. The cabinet on the lower left has the following modifications. 7 modifications, just on that one cabinet, and NOT including the overall cabinet Global attributes which include antiquing, distressing, glazing, and a specific finish on inset cabinets. Very upgraded choices to start with.. Each cabinet in the design has some modification except for the coat rack hooks. There isn't a standard unmodified cabinet in the bunch. This is only 5 cabinets, but this is 2 full pages of specifications. And each modification has to be double checked twice, by the person who is going to assemble, and the person ordering. If I forgot the FE-R, then the whole cabinet would be completely unusable in the design. I'd have to order it correctly again. If anyone want's to know what each of those ordering codes means, look at the design, and the fact that there is an outlet on the side there that needs room for the guts inside the cabinet, and the side of the cabinet has to be finished because it's exposed. The "feet" are specified in a particular way, because the cabinet is next to a wall on the left. Each side is specified differently because of that. And there's a power station inside the drawer, to charge phones, etc. Multiply these 5 cabinets by an entire kitchen. And you'll see what you need an expert KD to help you with this. But, by the time you pay for that help, and the assembly, It's doubtful that you will have saved much over choosing a good already assembled line would cost. This mudroom done in DuraSupreme, is 13K. It could be half of that without all of that antiquing and distressing. And it could be half that again in the least expensive door style in a full overlay instead of inset. That's the other thing that an experienced KD brings to the table. The knowledge of potential tradeoffs affect on the bottom line. These folks fell in love with a super distressed display, and they really wanted it. And they could afford it....See MoreHomeCrest Cadet Color Cabinets
