Paint Design Dilemma Kitchens

which Behr white paint for cabinet to go with this countertop?

Here is the granite countertop:

Originally, I chose Behr Palais White as it has a beige, creamy undertone and I did not want a glaring white. But after realizing this the only option I like for the countertop, I think the white should also have a cool undertone to go with the countertop.

If anyone here thinks that white with a warm, beige undertone cabinets will look good with the countertop pictured above than please tell me about that too, pics would help if you have them.

FYI, if I use this countertop for my bathroom vanity, then I will use the same white shade for the vanity cabinets as well.

I am limited to Behr or other paint brands that Home Depot carries

The Behr paint department is very customer oriented. Take these photos and granite sample and ask for Behr's professional opinion.

I think the granite looks great: very classic and a big improvement over the tile! I'd definitely look into undercabinet lights. Before, the white counters reflected the ceiling light back up under the cabinets. The dark granite holds onto the light and makes the undercabinet areas a little cave-like. Lighting will make a big difference. I think the previous suggestions are excellent: painting the wall in the kitchen, along with finding some colorful accessories. I had a small galley kitchen similar to this one, and I was amazed at the difference a bright blue rag rug and a few blue dishtowels over the stove handle made.

I get what you're saying! I like to layer texture, too, when going tone on tone. I was thinking a slightly unusual white tile shape for the backsplash to add texture. Our floor will be either bleached oak or grey stained oak (haven't settled on this yet, because we have boards that are nearly 100 years old and will be joined with brand new boards). Our kitchen island will be either very dark grey or battleship grey. My thought this morning was that we could do FC on the island for texture and then do PW on the white cabinets. The thing is that the white cabinets actually don't have that much countertop space (against the backwall where the cooktop will be) so, again, perhaps I'm overthinking this. We had Misty Carrera in our old kitchen with white cabinets and it bothered me that the counters were more grey than white.

Ok, then, help us help you. "What are your floors? What backsplash are you going with? Your lighting? Budget? Favorite color? Is that a smoky gray color?" I would add since all new, what are you planing for your floors to be? All others still need to be answered...........

First, review your lighting that is currently in there, to be sure you're using the lighting you'll want going forward. There are multiple threads in Houzz about choosing "daylight" bulbs of certain wattages. And there are also threads about lighting making whites appear yellow (or blue). Then, you can start out by getting some white primer and painting a wall, or a big section of a wall white...or even the whole bathroom. I would also consider buying a 3' x 3' piece of drywall (or something that size) and trying out your potential colors on that. You can set it against the cabinets, and the marble, and move it into the corners of the room, to help you decide. I love choosing whites, but when i do, I get 5, or 10, or (ahem) 20 sample pots to look at before deciding. Those are my tips. Good luck!

You mean in Home Depot? I've talked to the paint dept before and there was no one there that was a Behr expert or an expert in choosing in any paint colors.

As far the corner upper cabinet, I don't really have a choice. It's what the builder of the house is putting up. (He's not a custom builder) and I was not given an option on the choice of cabinets. Out of curiosity, what makes you say that? I won't be offended because I did not choose that.

White paint is a very difficult color to choose! I too am trying to find the perfect shade for us. One of the very talented professionals on this forum often recommends PPG’s Delicate White which is sold at Home Depot! Because I value her experience, I had to give it a try. Home Depot sells small sample sizes for a few bucks. I have painted several foam core boards with this color so I can move them around and see how they look. So far, I am loving this color. :-)

ok, thank you, I will get a sample of it tomorrow.

I'm open to more recommendations if anyone else has them.

I’ve used behr Swiss coffee and silver drop. Either will go with that countertop. Swiss coffee might be ok for a cabinet color.

Another brand and likely have them in the system already. I can’t speak to quality though. I like Benjamin Moore simply white, bright white but also warmish.

I agree with the other please do your research Behr Paint is not suitable for a Kitchen Cabinet Coating, why do all this work and end up redoing it again or the coating system fail? I'm not a professional just a perfectionist, and I'm going with Milesi or Renner next week, the correct stuff.
