Okay, let me see.......where did I file those pics of the pics.....duhhhh. Yaya, I will put my peabrain into gear and see what I can find. I did upload an album for the HouseMA, which means Massachusetts, which I'll link to below, but there are tons of IN PROCESS photos of the various rooms. But of the small parlor/living room, with that row of pics....which I love, BTW, for the subject matter as well as the frames.... I'll look for the best one and insert it HERE. Look for the albums about the Massachusetts Cape @ Webshots. I took the pictures with my digital camera the day we went to Mystic Seaport CT. It was in December, and the place was almost deserted, so there were no folks in the shots. As a boat captain, I knew of Mystic Seaport for many years, and I was in hog heaven being there. So the pictures meant a lot to me. The second image from the right is a bow shot of the whaling ship Charles W. Morgan, before it went on the ways/weighs to be restored/rebuilt. Fantastic and beautiful, a work of art. Then I saw the end of every bowsprit (pointy end of the ship) had a star carved into it and usually painted gold or sometimes blue. This is a tradition with old sailing vessels, a good luck sign, which meant "follow your lucky star," and I'd always, on every boat I worked on, painted a blue star (5 point) on the bow of the boat. It is a sailor tradition. I just love the traditions of the sea. Seeing one from the "old days" was awesome. That is why I love the last picture to the right. And, of course, I took some figurehead shots. You know of course the ancient mariners would strap a live virgin to the bow, as a sacrifice to the sea gods for their safe return. Eventually, they carved and painted wooden figureheads, not all female, as figureheads. I guess they ran out of virgins? If you have a chance to visit the Mystic Seaport, it is a real treat. well, here's an example of floating the furniture if you want to get off the back wall: But, I don't think this is necessary with your layout. as grover mentioned, play around with what you have and see what looks best. In the meantime, pick a sofa and an area rug that you want. Then you can build off of that. right now everything in there is so neutral. Look at these rooms I've posted below. Some have a bold color velvet sofa, and some have a bit more leather and black/white. You say you don't know how to do color. So pick a color that you like and work it into an area rug, artwork, pillows and / or the sofa. the rich navy blue velvet is gorgeous with gray, wood flooring and other neutral textiles and camel colored leather so is a deep, forest green this one is pretty neutral except for the rug. every thing else is minimal and neutral This would look so nice w/your wood flooring, the warm colors in the rug, wood slat table, linen-type sofa, leather poufs would also work here. and notice the art work. It all just works together

Loveseats are the bane of good arrangements and usually attract only one person to sit; hence the name "loveseat;" mostly occupied by two courting lovers. Chairs are more flexible for arranging and rearranging, block fewer sight lines and are more desirable to sit in. People like their personal space, and even on a 3-seater, they tend to leave the seat in the middle empty. How many do you need to seat when you have guests? A sectional will just constipate the space and block it up.

Gcubed idea could work. It's hard to know exactly because you need room to walk around a couch and you don't want your tv to be 3ft from your face. Another possibility is couch in front of windows, round coffee table so it's easy to walk around it, tv where your dining table is (i assume it's about 36 inches wide) so you can mount it on one of those mounts that can come off the wall and angle it depending on how many people you have over. I would nix the tv stand or get an open one like a console table and put some small poufs under for extra seating or to put your legs up when you watch tv. My sister's apartment has a similar ledge between her kitchen and living and she has her desk in front of it and just puts knick knacks on the ledge since it's too small for your knees to sit in front of. If you did that layout you may be able to get a bigger couch with a chaise for extra seating. I'd also look at realtor.com or even airbnb and see what they have in small houses, they get pretty creative in Galveston condos with 490sqft. IKEA and Target will be your friend if you need some new furniture. I'd also get those blinds that you can push up or down so you can get some privacy but still let light in on the top part without creating a glare when you're trying to watch tv. You could also get a long desk and have the left side be where you computer goes and right side for tv if you don't want to mount it.
