Installing an apron sink without a counter around it?

I plan to move my 36” Kohler Whitehaven sink from my kitchen to my laundry room. I will keep the sink in the 36” cabinet that the sink is currently installed in, but I don’t have room for any cabinets on either side of the sink. The cabinet and sink will be next to the washer or the dryer, maybe butted up against the machine or not. I have some wiggle room on that. I am having trouble visualizing what I need for a counter. I know that I need to install at least some counter behind the sink to be able to install the faucet, but what if anything do I need on the sides?
