HELP! My dated, white kitchen needs an update
Comments (47)To vintagestuff - that is a good point about the sink on the island, but... I never cook. I mean like sometimes for weeks I don't cook. So, while I recognize that concern, I am not too worried about it. There is rarely anything in my sink and I don't mind the sink being seen from the family room. to wilson853 - I am definitely looking at hoods, I think it changes the look a lot, and I like them. We are definitely considering adding the fascia and crown. I have that in my current kitchen and I love it! To chess: actually, I am not considering that beautiful range in the pictures. I am looking at a pretty cheap LG :-) I don't need expensive appliances, just decent and stylish. To BPatHome - We do not know if the post-pantry weird stuff was original, we can't find an original owner. I can't imagine why they liked that back then! It's kinda weird but... it's mine soon lol...See MoreHelp! I'm stuck on an island!!
Comments (46)Gorgeous cabinets, so glad you aren't painting them! I vote for a one-level island because then you could add a pop-up downdraft for your cook top behind it. Right now I see no venting for it and very little if any clearance between the cook top's burners and a combustible material. What was to the right of the sink? Looks like you removed something (unfinished cabinet side). Do you plan to fill that space in? You could add a dish hutch, free-standing or built-in, in a different finish here. I'd coordinate its finish color with your backsplash or another kitchen element....See MoreStuck in the 2000’s
Comments (23)Our color palette. Sofa/loveseat is green. Panels are purple as is the ottoman The whole house was painted last year (Dunn Edwards Bone) and carpet was put in right after that. All the trim and doors are pure white. The downstairs is all open concept. I do not want to repaint. Replacing drapes, buying new artwork and reupholstering any of the furniture is not in the budget. What I would like to do is add a bit of interest by introducing a new color to use in throw pillows and blanket. I thought it would be simple. It’s not! I appreciate the samples many have provided. I guess the bone wall color might preclude using a white background fabric (?). The fabric I posted, while the colors are right, seems a bit bland. Just looking for suggestions for a fabric that will work. No energy (or money ) to redo much else....See MoreStuck on awkward kitchen layout - better to switch with dining??
Comments (3)2 questions - do you need that closet in the hall by the bedrooms and can you relocate the waterheater? Maybe you can do a twist on this idea? You could fit a narrow island ( 24 - 25" ) or do storage and a peninsula. I would suggest finding a kitchen designer so they can put these ideas into the computer and give you 3 d renderings. Its the best way for you to "see" what will work for your space. Good luck!...See MoreBoxerpal
