If you find things on Gilt you like that are sold out you can usually find them somewhere else. Comments (11)Promoting the notion that a client needs to be "defended" from an unscrupulous builder or remodeler has been a proven strategy for architects to attract clients. Fear motivates. However, there are plenty of examples here on houzz.com where architects' clients got the short end of the stick. Who was there to "defend" them against their architect? An experienced firm--whether builder, remodeler, design/build firm, designer or architect--with some equity in their "brand"-- has an economic interest to act in a way that safeguards that equity. I think the majority of firms will; particularly in an age of social media. I know we won't risk the equity we've built in our brand over the past 37 years over a few thousand dollars-- and issues in residential construction rarely amount to more than that. I believe it's in a client's best interest to embrace a collaborative, team-based approach to residential design and construction which begins in the design phase--whether it involves a design/build firm or an independent architect and builder or remodeler working together (gasp!) And don't just take my word on it, read what Ann Edminster, LEED AP, says on the subject: https://www.finehomebuilding.com/2014/05/14/a-better-approach-to-designbuild...See MoreWhere Can I Find Designs for Large Trellis?
Comments (9)I don't know of any books either. Maybe Pinterest? If you don't have any or much personal experience with climbing roses I would strongly suggest that before you try to design something you spend a little time studying how they grow and how to train them for best flowering. There are others, but Paul Zimmmerman's how to grow roses series would be excellent use of time. He has several that just pertain just to climbers. They are usually short and entertaining. An hour invested and you will be better prepared and I'll bet Paul will have put a smile or two on your face! https://www.youtube.com/c/Paulzimmermanroses/search?query=climbing%20roses...See Moresalonva
