Please help! 80s contemporary renovation ideas!
My parents really want to give their 80s contemporary a major facelift. It's clear landscaping and painting are a must. Staining the brick and new coping/deck by the pool were discussed as well. The home is mostly stucco. They really like gray and want to modernize the property, but not lose the style. I've been doing so much research, but I need help! I welcome any and all suggestions. Comments (11)Can you paint the siding instead of the brick? They don't really go together. I think one of them needs to be changed. Not desperately--it's not THAT bad. Landscaping would help quite a bit. I don't mind the baby cactus garden, but the white rock stuff on the other side should go. Alllll the white rocks should be removed. Don't pull out the big bush until you have a plan. Sometimes an established plant can nicely anchor a new landscaping scheme. Pruning may of course be in order. I think if you concentrate on landscaping, wood tone garage doors and refinish the decking in the same color that it is. 3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoAs for the house, itself, a new paint color with Patricia’s deck/stiars, the exterior will show beautifully.
My suggestion for the body of the house: what if you just painted the entire house white, brick and stucco? Pink roof would be a stand-out. Inquire about power washing the roof. We had it done professionally, with no negatives.
Pool decking: we have chosen “forever lawn”. No, it is not astro turf!Not cheap, but the product is amazing. It drains, doesn’t stain or mildew, is cool to the touch….
Worth investigating, which I did after I saw it myself in a friend’s front city yard.
