Sick of Snow
Comments (13)Ann I was so happy that yesterday's snow didn't amount to anything. The kids have already had 9 snow days and the MCPS only allows 5. Are the private schools the same? I know that the BOE is trying to get an exemption to the 180 required school days. We already have plans for the summer and I don't want the school year extended. What is going to be a real problem beginning this morning is rush hour. The DOT is saying to expect commutes to be 3 or 4 times longer then usual. Considering that this area has the second worst rush hour in the nation during good conditions traffic is going to be a bi*ch! I'm so glad that I don't work anymore. My commute when I worked 10 years ago was an hour each way from here to 19th & K St even though it was only a 20 minute drive during the non rush hour. I'd be freaking out. BTW my street was finally plowed on Sat! Come on Spring!!!!!!!!!...See MoreI am SICK of snow!
Comments (14)Ok, you all win. You didn't get too much snow in Denver, Springs and even CR. I got about 5 inches of the white stuff and it was still coming down when I left for work. Not as hard as it was when I got home last night though. I didn't know snow fell from the sky, most of ours comes from the north, Kiowa I think. I did get all of my Roma tomatoes transplanted into their "spring home" last night. I guess I will have to clean tonight and tomorrow night. lilacs - when are you going to plant out you cauliflower and broccoli? I am thinking next weekend, but I probably will give them some type of makeshift "hoop house". I am the same way as Skybird, I hate to waste a good plant, so all 50+ will find a home in my garden somewhere, unless someone out there wants a "mystery". I can narrow it down to three choices, but that is about it. B...See MoreOff topic...Who is sick of snow and winter?
Comments (38)Here in the Denver area our temps have been colder than usual but overall snow totals are below normal (single digits daytime and negative temps at night). The mountains are getting amazing snow totals and it seems I-70 shuts down for at least a few hours once a week due to weather conditions. We do have quite a bit of snow on the ground now, but our temps are finally up in the 40's today and lots of sunshine so snow will melt fast. They say we'll be in the high 50's, maybe even 60 by Sunday. To those in the midwest and northeast, this beautiful sunshine should be heading your way--I only hope and pray it doesn't cause flooding by melting your snowpack too fast. Although I love living where there 4 seasons (lived in LA many years ago and it just wasn't for us), I will be happy when my crocuses pop up through the lingering snow and show their lovely purple and lavendar faces....See Moreonly look if you need a laugh today (lots of pictures)
