update 80s/90s contemporary interior

We’re in contract for a house with lots of wood in different tones, and tons of light (and tons of skylights.) We don’t want to “fight the feel” of this custom-built contemporary. We love all the wood but some of it feels dated— particularly the orangey baseboard and window trim and beigey walls.

I do like dark, rich paint colors. Our pre-war apartment had a BM ebony slate accent wall, for example. It I’m realizing maybe that won’t work with the feel of the house... or maybe it will? I don’t tend to like warm colors on walls that much, but warm undertones in cool colors are fine.

Also looking for thoughts on how to design the fireplace-window-facade wall. We will not put a TV up there.

Any color scheme ideas?
thoughts on the fireplace area?
Do we paint the 90s orange trim around windows, doors, and base boards, or paint the walls to complement them? Is white the only option?
