I bet you'll change the fp wall... but at least the shapes the trim makes are pleasing to the eye....

I can't figure out the storage/ bench part. I think you could design without them...

The fireplace is wood pellet... I had to Google that one!
The storage was for an entertainment system and is removable/will go.
I can’t figure out if the fp wall could handle a dark moody color like a deep green or blue— and if so, how to handle the window trim. To me, white trim on dark seems so... colonial? Just not contemporary.

I wouldn’t fight the orange. I’d paint the walls a crisp, stark white, replace the kitchen countertop with soapstone or a white quartz, replace the kitchen floor tiles, and lean into a white, black, orange color scheme. It will look clean and not dated. I’d also potentially swap out all the chrome for copper. I love copper and it’s not something easily dated since it doesn’t have a distinct era like Old World bronze or 90’s shiny brass or 2000s chrome/brushed nickel.

Do I see correctly, that from where you stood taking photo, a ceiling cut off the view of the wall you might accent?

Idea for new tiling - to cover entire area below and between the windows. Seems a nice shape and "filling."

I post about the surround for fireplace because to me that's a factor in the look of the trim.

One more with wood, but it's on ceiling [and not trim like yours], but copper or metal is an option to consider.

copper fp 20 gauge copper panels contact cemented to the fireplace substrate / patinated with ferric nitrate / contact cemented to the substrate. The color is ferric nitrate acid applied with gentle heat and sealed with carnauba floor wax. Architectural copper for internal use should be patinated and sealed to capture a desired color before the un-sealed copper oxidizes to an undesirable color.

To figure out a whole home palette you start with what must stay (budget restraints)/ what will stay (you like it).

Second step is to determine the colors you love. If you love the fall burnt oranges and greens you will want very different neutrals and whites to complement your art, furnishings and accessories than you would want if you love charcoal and lime green or peach and cornflower blue.

You pick your neutrals and whites to complement the things that must stay/will stay and the colors you love.

Trim does not need to be white or wood.

Ceilings can also be white, the same color as the walls or an accent color.

Most people do white or wood trim and white ceilings because that is what they think it should be, but there really aren't any rules that say you can't do something different.
