U shaped quartz 125"countertop with no seam

Would a fabricator do a 125" run of quartz counter tops that is 58" at the widest and 42" on the shorter end? There is a sink in the middle of the 125 run that a seem would most likely be. I didnt talk to the guy yet but thought I would the pros here. Is that too risky of a move for 1 piece? 1st floor house, Kitchen is straight in and with no doors besides the front door.

The slab is 127x64 so there is material for this seamless run if weight/logistics wasnt an issue.

I think that is a question for the fabricator/installer.

If entry isn't a problem, I still might be concerned with moving such a large piece with the sink cut-out where it is. But I'm not a pro!

Good point - there will be a lot less material/structure there with the cutout. Forgot about that.

I'll add that at the time of install, the fabricator got a little nervous about the length (10ft) of the long leg of my L with the sink in the middle of it and contemplated putting a seam and asked me about it. I said I was happy we didn't have one, but if being seamless would jeopardize this piece and we'd have to start over, I'd take a seam. Granted our piece had particular movement and I'd been to the yard and there was no more of it. In the end, they went for it and it worked out fine. But by that point I trusted him enough to say he needed to do what he thought best as the professional. (Granted that's burned me in other areas of my reno with other professionals>.)

I assume the 63" is the peninsula. I have never seen a seam run across the peninsula like that. That would give me doubts about the installer. My installer won't seam in the corner either. Mine is 4" from the corner of the peninsula. Maybe that seam placement will prevent a second seam behind your sink.

Where there is a will there is a way and a client willing to pay! We have had clients in condo's that didn't want seams but we couldn't access without it. in one case they brought some one in to manually operate the elevator so we could ride on top of the elevator car with the counter standing upright. on many other occasions they pay to rent a boom truck and we send it up from the outside through the patio door maybe this might work for you? Also seams are needed if your counter is a L shape between walls and closed at the end of the L with another cabinet. you can take a seam or pay to have the cabinet removed then put back after the counter tops are installed.

The OP needs to post pics of this installation. A U-shaped counter will indeed need 2 seams. My counter has 1 seam in L-shaped counter. It was strategically placed, discussed with me in advance, and I went to the template layout at the fabricator’s to see with my own eyes before the counter was installed. I feel terrible for the posters who tell their stories on here that they were not informed by their fabricators or GC’s that they should be doing that. Having said that, all this info about counter fabrication for the consumer is available on the internet, and when making such an expensive purchase, it would be best to do a 5-minute google search. When you are buying a car, laptop, phone, refrigerator, or other costly item you probably do. So, while the installation appears bad - according to your verbal description since we haven’t seen pics - the fabricator is at fault, and you sound like you have a legitimate complaint, but you need to take some ownership too. I would speak with this design studio, and see what they say.

Modern clamping rails make old school rodding for strength during transport obsolete, especially with engineered stone. It should install with no problems.

Definitely talk to the fabricator/installer. They need to be able handle the weight, doorways, turning around corners, etc. They can brace the sink cutout area with wood and clamps which are removed after they get it into the kitchen. But really, only they can answer you. And they are responsible. My SIL is having a huge slab installed and they have to hire a CRANE to get it up and enter the condo through a patio door. The contractor is responsible for anything and everything that could go wrong in that situation. When they install, stand very far away and don't touch anything. That said a well-placed seam is usually fine.

The kitchen is straight in and to the left. Don't mind a seam at the sink as its expected especially with a 125" run. I am going directly to the fabricator so I wont bother him until he comes and does the measurements. Just thought I would ask the industry here to know what to expect.
